Worthy of the Week

Reads of the Week

Slight rebranding from Book of the Week to Reads of theWeek. NBD.

I’m a firm believer in reading the book before seeing the movie, so when the movie trailer for Brooklyn tugged at my heartstrings, I snapped up the book and started reading. I love a good coming-of-age story, especially set in the 50s.

What have you been reading?

  1. Thanks for the Trader Joes slide show–I go in there, grab cookie butter & dog treats and leave. I’m going ‘SHOPPING’ there, soon! Also, I love anything velvet. My little sister has a pair of burgundy low Chuck Taylors that I covet. The burgundy velvet low UGGS might have to come and live with me!

  2. I read We Are Animals and The Wedding this week…nothing like a good Nicholas Sparks cry. I’m now finishing up In God We Trust – All Others Pay Cash. It’s SO NWI.

  3. I’m on a big non-fiction kick right now, so I’ve been reading lots of articles about politics (yikes!) and books about, well, other stuff. Collapse by Jared Diamond is a ‘holy shit’ of a read in that it made me feel veeerrry pessimistic about humanity’s future on Earth. Also read Origins: Fourteen Billion Years of Cosmic Evolution by Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Donald Goldsmith. Pretty interesting stuff even if you can’t comprehend physics terribly well (like me). Currently in process: Crimson Shore by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (from one of the few fiction series I really enjoy), The Gift: by Lewis Hyde, and The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor (which I started for research purposes for a work project).
