Tune up the Huffy

Mike and I have been tossing around the idea of buying new bikes. They aren’t going to eliminate the need for car insurance, but it would be nice to get out and exercise, and they would come in handy once we move to a more downtown friendly neighborhood.

Mike refuses to ride a Huffy and I refuse to spend a thousand dollars on a Trek, so what kind of bike do you ride? Is there a brand you would recommend?

The visual of that is too funny. It would be like the opening of Three’s Company!

I love joe’s suggestion and I’ll bet Ollie does too so he can go along for the ride.

I have a Giant Yukon mountain bike. It is not easy to ride because I rarely get to coast on the street because of the traction of the tires.

I am seriously considering a road bike. Not one as fancy as my husband’s but I’m finding that I really enjoy the stationary bike at the gym and I’d like to take my workout on the road. John has lost almost 40 lbs. since he got his bike earlier this year! I’m going to start out with an intro bike just in case I don’t like it.

    Good luck with your search!

Hey, Daly – good recommendation. I noticed from your pictures that your husband has lost a lot of weight! My roommate and I used to ride all around campus when we were in college and it was so much fun. I’m thinking this would be great to start again.

I have a Giant Boulder SE which is technically a mountain bike but the traction is fine on roads. I bike to work and back (about 2 miles each way) most days. I love my bike! =)

We just bought bikes a while back! I did get the BIG BUTT seat added to mine! Those little itty bitty small sets don’t get it after about 5 minutes on the bike! We got both our bikes for under $400! We both bought a Monogoose! We bought them at Academy! http://www.academy.com/

    Good luck with that!

I’m just snooping around your blog…lol! I’m here from the giveaway! =) I love your blog!!!!

Ok, the tandem thing…my parents had one and it was the funniest thing to see them go. She’d be in the front with perfectly erect posture and he’d be pedaling along in the back. Too funny. I don’t suggest a tandem if you want to maintain your dignity.
