The $4 Bouquet
How often do you buy yourself flowers? They’re one of my indulgences.
Well, one of my many indulgences.
I believe in self-gifting.
Nothing extravagant, just a $4 bouquet of carnations or daisies or mixed flowers from the grocery store. I know this sounds cheesy and corny and kind of out of character for me, but my little bouquets are just enough to make the day feel special and make me stop for a whiff as I walk through the house. I really think we should all take the time and do this more often – treat ourselves to something that we traditionally wait for others to give us, because in the words of @JenKCunningham, we fucking deserve it.
But please, no baby’s breath.
PS
Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a fund so that people could buy themselves a $4 bouquet every so often? All our internet friends sign up, throw what they can afford in a pot, and once a week we PayPal someone $4 with a note to treat themselves. I’m loving this idea.

I’m big into manicures now that I’m not a nail biter. $12 for pretty nails and I feel like a million bucks?
And what Coach purse did you buy?!

I’d contribute to that fund…fresh flowers change any room for the better! And it’s one of those things people don’t think to buy for themsves bc they don’t realize they’ll still get the happy feelings even if they aren’t from someone else…

If I were rich, I’d have fresh flowers in every room of the house.

Yes, we do deserve it. I buy myself flowers often. I love the farmer’s markets in the summer, because you can buy big bouquets of the types of flowers that aren’t commonly found at florists or grocery stores.

Our farmers markets tend to be expensive, but they do have beautiful flowers. I’m a cheap date; carnations are my favorite.

That is an awesome idea!!
My husband is a flower buyer (I’m blessed like that) so he often comes home with a little bouquet for me. Not super fancy, just a little “I love you.”

So jealous that your husband is a flower buyer. Mine never was. Though I did get a bouquet when our divorce was final.

You know, I used to buy myself a cheesy cheap bouquet from Walmart from time to time. You know the ones, the REALLY bright…those can’t be the true color of that flower, bouquets. I need to get back in that habit again.

Yes! Do it. I love the holiday bouquets that are dyed and sprayed with glitter. So tacky yet so wonderful.

I couldn’t agree with you more! It’s the little things that really make me happy. I’ve found Trader Joe’s to be an awesome stop for flowers since they are affordable but last forever.
I’m so in, I’d rather paypal someone a few bucks for flowers than overspend on sending them flowers from one of those big online retailers that charge $50 for a crappy bouquet.
What’s your paypal?

Oh, I wish we had a Trader Joe’s in Austin! I think they’re scared of Whole Foods.
