I thought we’d have a little fun this Friday with the Four Foods on Friday meme.
#1. What’s your favorite kind of crepe?
The only crepe I can remember having was from the Paris hotel in Las Vegas and it had lots of bananas and chocolate syrup and was divine.
#2. How do you make ziti?
Toss noodles, sauce, and ricotta sauce together, top with mozzarella cheese and bake till gooey.
#3. What is your favorite thing to put on toast, and which flavor if more than one?
I’m strictly butter on rye toast.
#4. When wok cooking, which oil burns the slowest? Peanut, vegetable or safflower?
I’ve never cooked with a wok before. I hope I’m not really missing out!
I’ve been really good about bringing my lunch to work in the past two weeks. I decided to take a chance this morning and make a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich because I am sick of turkey and cheese. I usually despise PB&J if not eaten right after they are made, because the bread gets all sloppy and gooey, but oh my gosh, it was the best lunch I’ve had in a long time!
I make mine with strawberry preserves, but Mike likes grape jelly, so we’re going to have to be a dual PB&J household.
I’m a sucker for gimmicks, so I couldn’t pass up Jolly Time’s Mallow Magic microwave popcorn. Popcorn and marshmallows? In one warm gooey concoction? Count me in! I had high expectations of a delightful mix of rice crispie treats and popcorn balls.
Wrong. Wrong. WRONG.
When I was little, the frosting packages to Toaster Strudel always use do “disappear” (read: my mom used to use two at a time and blame the disappearance on my sister and I), so my mom would make a fake frosting from powdered sugar and water. It was nasty. And that’s basically what Jolly Time has you pour on the way too buttery popcorn to achieve the marshmallow flavor.
Belch.
I should have known better, though. This is the company that makes carmel apple flavored popcorn. Plus, read the Jolly Time press release Popcorn Brings Kids Back To “Cool” with Fresh Ideas for Breakfast, Lunch, Treats. Popcorn instead of lettuce in sandwiches? I don’t think so.
If you want to try it for yourself, let me know. It was a two pack, and I’m obviously not whipping up the second batch anytime soon.
I’m a little shocked to admit that the Lean Cuisine brick oven pizzas are pretty tasty. Ten minutes in the oven, and my roasted garlic and chicken pizza was crispy and gooey. Quite enjoyable for dieting!
