I absolutely love going to the horse track, and in the past year have probably been at the track more weekends than I care to admit. The races are amazing to watch and the dedication of the trainers and jockeys is unbelievable. Not to mention I can leave with a little cash in my pocket if I pick the right ponies!

Day and night, people’s lives revolve around training and caring for their animals. Even if they are just casual riders, horses require more care and companionship than a cat or a goldfish, plus the training, equipment and know-how to ride, which I do not possess. That’s why horse lovers need a partner that understands their dedication and shares in their love and appreciation for horses.

The story of the mom that was expecting sextuplets but delivered octuplets is getting more and more bizarre.

It’s now being reported that the mother has six other children, four boys and two girls, including a set of twins. A family acquaintance appeared on the CBS Early Show and stated that the mother is young and living with her parents. There doesn’t seem to be a husband or boyfriend in the picture.

There are so many things that I personally think are wrong with this story, beginning with why, when she already has six children which she obviously can’t support since she’s living with her parents, would she choose to undergo fertility treatment? And why does our medical system allow such unnecessary procedures? And why is this birth considered a medical miracle when it’s really a medical disaster waiting to happen?

The whole situation just disturbs me.

UPDATE: This mother is a hot mess. A neighbor is saying that all 14 babies are from a sperm donor!

Fun, Crafts and RecipesFour Foods on Friday is getting a little crazy this week. It’s all about weird ways we eat normal foods.

1. What’s the oddest thing you’ve ever made with bread?

A brown sugar sandwich. White bread, butter, and brown sugar. A friend in college was addicted to them. I think it’s a southern thing.

2. What’s the oddest thing you’ve ever done with mac and cheese or pasta?

I mix stuff in with my pasta all the time. Tuna, peas, broccoli, artichokes, cheese. I’ve also made pasta in the oven, microwave, and crock pot.

3. Is there a food you eat other then it is intended?

I would say ketchup on eggs, but not as many people are grossed out by that anymore. I dip shrimp in Ranch dressing instead of cocktail sauce.

4. What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever seen?

Fresh conch in the Bahamas. The fisherman pulled it right out of the ocean, dug it out of its shell, and chopped it up and ate it. If I were to go back, I’d definitely try it.

1966173331 71141d5f0aI know a few of you live in warmer climates, but here in Chicago, we just survived a cold and blustery week. Over a foot of snow and a wind chill close to -35 degree had me working from home for two days and I was happy my car started when I left for work on Thursday.

The fridge is pretty empty at this point, so it’s Four Foods on Friday before a trip to the grocery!

1. Do you prefer to eat Chinese food in the restaurant or to have it delivered?

The best Chinese restaurants are seedy little places, so I prefer to have my shrimp lo mein delivered so I don’t have to know what the kitchen it was cooked in looks like.

2. Do you prefer wonton or egg drop soup?

Egg Drop. It’s totally Atkins friendly and I made it from scratch for lunch yesterday! It’s just chicken stock, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and eggs. It was fantastic.

3. What flavor fried rice is your favorite?threeview30b 125

Shrimp is my favorite.

4. Describe your favorite item on the Chinese food menu.

Crab Rangoon made with imitation crab, smooth cream cheese, and lots of that sweet red dipping sauce, folded into a flower. No purses or triangles!
