Sue is the chef that I work with, and she’s pretty amazing. She can whip up a cobbler in no time, cook seven chickens at one time, and dice chives so fast I stop and pray for her finger-tips. She had quite a scare last week, when her eyesight started to deteriorate. She had been seeing spots, her left eye was foggy, and cobwebs would spider through her line of site. Her regular optometrist told her that she was fine for the time being, but to get to the emergency room immediately if it gets any worse, because that mean that her retina detached. Scary diagnosis to make so casually!

Not being satisfied by her initial doctor’s visit, and wanting to solve any major problems before they started, Sue made an appointment with a retina specialist, who got her in for an appointment right away. After a few minutes examining her eyes, the doctor told her that she had severe dry eyes and prescribed eye drops and recommended that she consider switching from glasses to Acuvue Oasys.

After taking the prescribed eye drops twice, Sue’s vision is almost back to normal. The cobwebs have cleared out and the spots have disappeared. She’s also seriously considering switching to contact lenses from 1-800-GET-LENS, since they can help keep her eyes moisturized and her vision clear.

I don’t really understand what started this whole bus debacle, or why the second girl decided that she wanted in on the action, but apparently neither of the girls are smart enough to realize that there is an emergency exit behind them that they could use to get off the bus if they wanted to leave so badly.

From the video, you can clearly see that the bus driver initiated the physical contact, but that girl is just an ignorant and arrogant, brat. She should have sat down, got off at her stop, and filed a complaint with the school system instead of escalating the situation.

IMG 1949We are one of those couples. We dress our dog up, buy him treats from the dog bakery, and take him on vacation with us. Well, we want to take him on vacation with us. Usually, we have to book him a night in the local doggie hotel because we have difficulty finding pet friendly hotels that will welcome our little wiener dog with open arms. The dog hotel isn’t anything to scoff at, but it’s just not the same as being together.

Thanks to OfficialPetHotels.com, Ollie can now be nestled between us when we lay down to relax on our next trip. Their database contains over 10,000 pet friendly hotels all over the country, which makes for easy traveling. A did a quick search for our hometown of Chicago, and found out that the Palmer House Hilton even accepts pets overnight!

Not only will you be able to find a hotel where you whole family can stay, and yes, pets are family, there’s even a list of tips for traveling with your pets. Some of which I would have never thought of!

  • Locate emergency veterinary clinics in the area
  • Feed your pet ice cubes to keep them hydrated
  • Make sure your pet has tags with your destination information

scanMike always doubts my sportiness, but I’m telling you, I was a volleyball and softball superstar in my teen years. I even have a sports injury to prove it.

During a pinnacle softball game in 1997, I hit a grounder that made it past the first baseman towards a right fielder with a weak arm, which scored me a easy double. The girl up to bat after me sent a fly ball to center field which nearly cleared the fence. I took off from second base with no problem, but when I rounded third base I felt something in my right knee tear. My knee buckled and slid across the gravel playing field.

Of course, I tried to act tough, but I started crying and couldn’t tell everyone that something was wrong with my knee. They thought I had tripped and fell! When I finally told them that I couldn’t get up because of my knee, I was carried off the field and to the car quite dramatically for a trip to the emergency room.

When all was said and done, I went through three rounds of physical therapy and two knee surgeries. Even though I followed doctors orders, recooperated well, and went out to play another year of sports, my knee has never felt the same.

I started using Freeze It Gel a few months ago and it has helped reduce my pain tremendously. I use it before I exercise, take the dog on a walk, or know I’ll be spending a long day on my feet. Freeze It has kept my pain and discomfort in check and I’ve been able to go longer and farther because of it. I even keep a tube in my purse for whenever I feel a twinge of pain come on.

duo-learnIf you suffer from:

* Sore Muscles & Muscle Sprains

Freeze It Gel can help you, too. It comes in a rub on gel or a roll on applicator, smells fresh and minty but not medicated, and won’t stain or harm your clothing.

1608979652 3de5b2f79d oWhen I read the newspaper online this morning, I came across the perfect story for Skeet‘s weekly Good Stuff post.

One of my company’s main competitors, Simon Property Group donated $40 million to Riley Hospital for Children. The donation will officially be announced today at a luncheon and is being made by David and Jackie Simon. The money will go towards completing a $475 million tower that will house operating rooms, emergency facilities, delivery rooms, and newborn intensive care units.

Riley Hospital helps children from all over the united states. They are known to be the best and usually run at capacity, with the average length of stay at more than nine days.

This isn’t the first time the Simon family has made a sizeable donation to Indianapolis beneficiaries. Last year Mel and Bren Simon pledged $50 million to the Indiana University Cancer Center.
