Before I dive into this post, lets get one thing clear…I’m not pregnant. There’s not a flicker of desire to become pregnant. If I were to become pregnant, I would use all 9 months to eat marshmallow fluff and then complain incessantly about how I can’t even fit into the Liz Lang maternity clothes from Target.
That being said, I’m a strong proponent of stem cell research and solutions and am so happy our president is making strides to progress the study of steam cells. Currently, Cryo-cell offers some amazing opportunities to collect and preserve stem cells. From banking your baby’s cord blood, to collecting monthly menstrual blood, there are risk-free and pain-free ways to harvest stem cells which have been used to treat more than 70 diseases, including malignancies, anemia and metabolic and immune system disorders.
Their current offer makes harvesting and storing stem cells a more affordable option for parents looking to protect their children. No doubt, it’s an investment, but an investment that may pay for itself many times over through the course of your child’s life.
The site encourages interested women and expectant parents to “compare us” because they know they offer the most advanced services at the most affordable price that could one day save your child’s life.
It’s the first Friday of June, which means that it is National Doughnut Day!
In 1917, the lassies (female members) of the Salvation Army prepared thousands of fresh doughnuts for the homesick soldiers serving in France during WWI. In 1938 the Chicago Salvation Army officially named the first Friday in June National Doughnut Day to raise money during the Great Depression, and it continues today with the Salvation Army Donut Day.
I heard on the radio this morning that over 2,000 Salvation Army volunteers will be located around the city, selling doughnuts to raise funds for programs that support children, youth, seniors, families, and homeless, and in recent years, Krispy Kreme has jumped all over the holiday by giving out a free doughnut to show their appreciation to their customers.
If you want to make sure that identify theft doesn’t happen to you, then I suggest looking into lifelock, the identity management company that protects your good name by monitoring your credit report for suspicious activity and unauthorized charges, removing your name from preapproved credit offers and mailing lists, and puts an end to the selling of your personal information by illegal data firms. Lifelock has made it their mission to protect the identities of millions of people through a solid protection program and grass-roots educational programs to make people aware of what they are doing that can put them at risk for identify theft.
If you’re serious about identify protection, Lifelock is on the lookout for new team members to help protect their customers, so check out Lifelock careers today.
Back in the day, I held the title of moderator on various forums. I had two or three forums that I visited, almost obsessivly, until things went sour. People started calling names, posting nasty rumors and pictures, and abusing their privileges as moderators. I went on an indefinite forum hiatus after that. It just wasn’t fun any more.
Then I started to visit the boards over at IZEA to ask questions when I first started paid blogging, and I was hooked again. Every one has just the right amount of snark and sass, but they know how to pull in the reins when things start to get out of hand, which they can.
No place is a perfect oasis, but the IZEA board are pretty peaceful and always helpful. Even after being a part of the community for almost two years, I still consult the boards almost daily for news, answers to questions, and updates from the IZEA staff, and sometimes I even join in to help a newbie out and share a little of what I’ve learned as a Postie.
Whether you’re already a part of IZEA, a newbie looking to make money online, or just want information about blogging, the IZEA boards are a great resource. So, bring your sense of humor, your quick wit, and your blogging brain, and join in the fun!

I’m not much of a political person. I research the candidates, follow the debates, and vote. I’m not one to engage in a heated political debate seven though my husband and I are divided on candidates. I do appreciate some light hearted political humor and an attempt by the candidates to reach new audiences, like the
Deratany Satire on GetFave.com.
If you’re not from the Chicago-land area, Jay Paul Deratany is a Cook County Board of Review candidate, running against Joe Berrios and Todd Stroger. The viral politics at GetFave.com gives Deratany the chance poke a little fun at the shady business that has been going on within the Board and stress his position on tax reform. The video is quick and snappy, makes some great points, and definitely brings to mind the Jib Jab presidential videos!
For people that aren’t true political followers, like myself, these viral videos are a great way to generate some buzz and get your message across without succumbing to the typical boring political ads. They also appeal to a younger audience and plays into the whole grassroots campaign, costing very little to produced when compared to typical television ad campaigns.
I don’t live in Cook County, but I will be passing the video on to friends and family that do, and I think it might help them make up their mind about who to vote into the Board of Review!
