There doesn’t seem to be enough filth on my blog lately, so here goes. All that hard earned money my parents spent on Catholic school and this is what I put out there for all the world to see.

There certainly seems to be enough penis related blog posts around here, and now thanks to Jimmy Kimmel we can add a clitoris joke to the mix. It’s only fair, right? And it’s all technical terms I’m talking about here people, no street slang for me. I’ve got class.

Poor guy seems really embarrassed and I think it takes a lot to embarrass a guy who admits to f*cking Ben Affleck.

I don’t know all the pros and cons of breastfeeding. Everyone in my family has been bottle fed and we’re all happy and healthy. If we ever have kids, bottle feeding would be my preferred method, because frankly, someone sucking on my boob kind of grosses me out, but even I don’t see how anything negative can be said about Salma Hayek breastfeeding a stranger’s baby.

In Sierra Leone, breastfeeding is stigmatized because men are not to have sex with breastfeeding women, so babies are weaned as early as possible, making malnutrition the leading cause of death in a country with the highest infant mortality rate in the world. Babies are breastfed for mere months when medical professionals are recommending two years to combat malnutrition.

The baby was hungry. Salma had milk. She fed the baby. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if she would have pulled a bottle out of her bag, so why is it a big deal that she breastfed a malnourished baby?

1966173331 71141d5f0aLets all do a little dance for Val and Four Foods on Friday! Great questions this week about everyone’s movie theatre snacking preference, and especially timely since there are so many great movies in the theatre right now!

1. What snacks do you eat at the movies? Do you buy them there or bring your own?

I never used to snack at the movies, but now I’m into movie theatre popcorn. I also usually smuggle in a bottle of water and some Sour Patch Kids.

2. What’s your favorite food movie, or movie that shows a lot of food?

Willy Wonka and Ratatouille immediately come to mind, but there’s also Chocolat, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Waitress, and Home Fries!

3. What food or meal do you wish was available at the movies and why?

You should be able to get a pint of ice cream at the theatre. When I watch a movie at home, I sit down with a carton of ice cream and a spoon, why not at the theatre?

4. What’s your most favorite way to make popcorn? Hot, cold, buttered, air, microwave, chocolate, caramel, you get it.

tin logochicagotradition-tinIf I’m in Chicago, I’m buying my popcorn from Garrett. If I’m in Indianapolis, I’m buying my popcorn from Just Pop In . Chicago-style, please. If I’m stuck in Crown Point, Indiana, I’m making my popcorn in an air popper with a little bit of butter and salt.

FunCraftsRecipeAdIt’s week 31 of Four Foods on Friday, and the topic of barbeque! Quite timely since most people dusted off the BBQ for the first time last weekend for their Memorial Day celebrations.

1. What is your favorite food that is cooked on the barbeque?

Ribs! Though I can’t remember the last time I had ribs.

2. What veggies, if any, do you cook on the barbeque?

Corn, mushrooms, zucchini, and squash.

3. Tell us a little about your barbeque habits. Who grills, how often, what months, etc.

I’ve never owned a barbeque, but I’ve manned the grill at my parent’s house during the summer. I think we’re an early and late summer BBQ family, because it’s no fun to stand outside infront of a hot grill when it’s 100 degrees out.

4. Share a barbeque recipe.

I don’t know a true barbeque recipe, but I know that my mom always ads honey to bottled BBQ sauce and it is delish.

IMG 2190I was going to go for a walk tonight, but it is just too damn windy, so I made a Brown Cow Slushy instead. I know. You thought I was going to say I ran on my elliptical instead. Sorry. Brown Cow Slushy trumps elliptical any day.

  • 1 1/2 cups fat free half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (I used vanilla sugar)
  • 3 12-ounce bottles of quality rootbeer

In medium mixing bowl, use hand mixer on low speed to combine half-and-half and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Stir in root beer. Pour mixture into ice cream machine and let thicken until slushy.

The best part is that one serving is only 218 calories. That’s very reasonable for a ice-cream-like treat!
