Socks for Soldiers

SunshineI’ve been checking the newspaper regularly for something good to submit to Skeet‘s good stuff round up, and after a few slow weeks, I found something great.

A 12-year old girl from Fort Wayne, Indiana, collected over 4,000 pairs of socks and counting for soldiers in Afghanistan. She was chatting with her mailman one day and he mentioned that a family member in Afghanistan always requests warm socks in his care packages, so she got the bright idea and started spreading the word.

The first day she received over 1,000 pairs of socks, and not long after that she crossed the 4,000 pair mark. Donations are still being accepted until December 23rd, and I’m confident she’ll exceed 5,000 pairs.

Smart girl, great cause, budget friendly donation that will really be appreciated!
