Shopping Sabbatical – The Conclusion

Praise Nordstrom! The shopping sabbatical is over!

I confessed my slip-ups about a month in, and I’m ready to confess it all now.

Month 1

  • bracelet from BaubleBar
  • jean jacket from Old Navy
  • necklace from BaulbleBar (Truth be told, I’m not loving this necklace. $10 wasted.)

Damage: $24

Month 2

  • 2 shirts from Old Navy
  • jean capris from GAP outlet
  • maxi skirt from GAP outlet (I live in this skirt. Live.In.It.)

Damage: $65

Month 3

  • necklace from BaubleBar (In orange. Not pink.)

Damage $10

Total Damage: $99

$99! Let me just tell you, that’s a fraction of what I was spending monthly for a while there (I shop to make myself feel good and it was a rough couple of months, what can I say?), so while the shopping sabbatical may not have been a raving success, I’m quite proud of myself.

To a (slightly) lesser-degree, the shopping sabbatical stays in effect until spring since I’m determined to go to Europe for my birthday in March.

Did you play along? How’d you do?

Even though you ‘cheated’ you were honest, and that’s not always easy. Congrats!

Thanks! It took me a long time to be honest about finances. For over five years, I blogged my daily spending habits on a personal finance blog and learned that burying the receipt doesn’t make anything go away.

Thanks for letting me tag along for the journey, Corrin.

It was tough, and I, too, cheated, but was far better than I normally would have been. *g*

I am working on being honest with myself when it comes to personal finance. I have been doing an extensive emptying of my closet and it’s been very depressing. :( I am pretty darn embarrassed. :p But it’s something my husband and I are working through.

It’s so hard! I’m definitely the kind of girl that buys multiples of things that I think I really like. Or I buy things that SORTA fit, thinking that they’ll fit if I lose 10 pounds. It’s an ongoing struggle to address wants vs. needs and wants vs. budget!
