Scapegoat

I need a scapegoat. Is it Twitter? El Nino? My contempt for companies handing mommy bloggers opportunities on a silver platter just because they’ve squeezed one or two out of their Christmas? (I do feel like that’s a bit too strong of a statement – but I’m really irked that good bloggers are being passed up for mom bloggers – and I would write more on this, but I’m way too nonconfrontational.)

Something has to be to blame for the lack of creative juices flowing on this blog lately, because it’s certainly not the very real possibility that I’m just a bore.

How is it that they are getting these ops, appliances and such?

By the way, I posted a link to wedding pics on my blog.

Karen – I have no idea. It’s just very disheartening to see the same people getting more and more opportunities, especially when their blogging is inferior to others.

Going to check out photos now!

As you would imagine, I have the same issue with the “mom blogger” obsession by advertisers. Many of the products have nothing to do with “Mom” and everything to do with “Woman” Plus, I am a very involved auntie. I have blogged on about Barbies (not for pay) and children’s books.

It’s a silly standard to think I’m not as good mommy blogger.

Tina – That’s the exact thing that irks me – the products are FEMALE orientated not MOM orientated – and advertisers are mommy blinded. I can think of at least a half dozen two-bit mom bloggers that have major sponsorships that could go to more relevant and higher caliber bloggers.

I completely agree with you. I have more disposable income than a lot of moms do because I DON’T have kids. I still have to wash clothes and I probably shop at Old Navy and buy more products than a lot of them do. Dave and I also go out to eat, cook meals from Kraft and Stouffer’s at home, and go on more vacations. I also shop for my nieces and nephews and spoil them. So yeah…
