Project KitchenAid Mixer

So, I was going about my business, making a triple batch of chocolate chip cookies (plain, Heath, and a third, newfangled variety, marshmallow) when my arm got really tired of mixing and I took a break to tweet this:

Within seconds, someone retweeted me. And someone retweeted them. Then I got my first donation. Then another person said they’d pitch in $5. Then someone requested my PayPal address. Then two people said KitchenAid mixers are life changing and totally worth a donation.

Then the ChipIn button was born.

And cookie-loving angels everywhere bust into song.

If you donate, please leave your contact information so that I can say thank you. The goal is $281 for the KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer that I’ve been coveting by my March 18th birthday. If the kitty doesn’t reach $281, all money will be donated to Feeding America. If it does reach $281, all donations above and beyond will be donated to Feeding America.

Either way, I’ll donate $50 to Feeding America. (More if I can.) Pinkie swear.

To recap: Ya’ll get together and buy me a KitchenAid Stand Mixer for my birthday and a minimum of $50 will be donated to Feeding America.

I know this is completely frivolous and ridiculous. Believe me, I know. But in a good way. It’s worth a shot, right? And maybe we can do a little good, too. You know, besides the copious amount of cookies that will be brought into this world.

I hope you don’t consider this spam; I’m a real person also in search of a free KitchenAid mixer (for my sainted mother though, her birthday is March 12)! Have you tried entering blog giveaways and the like? Some have surprisingly good odds. I’ve recently started blogging online contests where the prize is a KitchenAid at http://freekitchenaidmixer.com/ . Hope the donations thing works out! If I win one I’ve promised my supporters the baked goods of their choice (yes bribery!).
