Noonie Norton. A brilliant, misunderstood, 10-year-old artist who is instantly and simultaneously bratty and charming.

After her mother died, Noonie’s father leaves her with an aunt, uncle, and cousin in order to travel the world on archeological digs. Noonie’s new family doesn’t recognize her artistic genius, but she learns that a brilliant artist is never afraid. In the end, her entire family comes together.

Noonie’s Masterpiece is the debut novel from Lisa Railsback (who is from my new hometown, Austin!) with art by Sarajo Frieden that is full of heartache and triumph and whimsical illustrations. It’s a fabulous read for adults and elementary age kids alike.

If you’re inspired by Noonie, send in your masterpiece to win a $100 Chronicle Books library of books!

You can also win a copy of Noonie’s Masterpiece right here, right now! Just answer this question…

How do you express yourself artistically?

Do you sing opera? Clog dance? Crochet? Perform stand-up comedy? Paint elaborate murals in your free time?

My blogs have definitely become my creative outlet over the past 8 years. Just like Noonie, not everyone understands my (and I’m saying this tongue ‘n cheek) creative genius.
