No Reservations – Azores

There’s so much to learn from No Reservations! This week, Anthony Bourdain is in the Azores, a small cluster of Portuguese islands in the middle of the Atlantic that I didn’t even know existed! Now that I do, I’m convinced it’s paradise. Look at the scenery, and how delicious the food looks, and how nice the people are…

You can see the full episode tonight, January 26th, at 10 EST on the Travel Channel, and as always, visit Tony’s blog for more on the Azores!

I have a friend whose family hails from there, so I was already familiar with it. From anyone that I know that has been to Portugal said it was a great place to visit. I was hooked since I saw some of the museuems on Rick Steve’s show.

Snack Hount – I loooove Rick Steves. Whenever PBS has a telethon I always want to pledge so I can get a backpack like his. haha.

I always wonder to myself about Rick Steves, though. He always packs so few clothes! I have a nylon-y top that I take for travel because it dries fast and I can wash it in the sink if I need to in a pinch, but you can’t do that with khakis that he wears. I think they film a lot in one day, so that just gives you the impression that he wears the same clothes everyday, but makes me wonder.

Azores is a great place to spend summer holidays if you don’t want to sweat all the time. The climate is not too warm or not too cold either. There are some probability of rain everyday but that doesn’t bother me.
