Move over Mrs. Duggar…
Sorry, Mrs. Duggar. Livia Ionce beat you to the punch. She gave birth to her 18th child in Canada this week. Just like the Duggar’s, the Ionce’s let God guide their child-rearing, and their 18 children range in age from newborn to 23-years.
Babies are dripping out of these women like Moen faucets, I swear!

While I don’t have the skills or abilities to raise 18 children I offer nothing praise to the Ionce family for their values around children. It’s a shame some people have to mock them or compare their family to Moen faucets.

Your sense of humor just hits me the right way. I love your blog.

Why thank you, Elizabeth!

Hailey – it’s also a shame that some people don’t know what birth control is. At least they didn’t immigrate to the US with all those kids. We have the Duggars to support.

Corrin is ignorant. The Duggars are not being supported by us. They completely support themselves. People are so opinionated on things they know nothing about and then spout off like they are so smart when they don’t even know what they are talking about. Shame on her for spreading lies about people!
Birth control is for people who do not trust God. The more I trust God for our family, the more He blesses our life. Even financially. God loves to prove He can and will provide when we trust Him completely. It is hard to let go when you can’t see that it will happen. But when we answered that call to trust God, He moved in our lives in a big way!

Boy, that sounded way more harsh than in intended! I do tend to sound that way, rather than matter of fact. I’m sorry about that, tone is everything and tone doesn’t come through in written word.
I’m am not a Duggar fan, however, I have strong opinions about people thinking that trusting God is stupid. And really hate when people decide that there is no way a family can support their own kids without the government.
Typically when someone with 2 kids gets support, like medical or WIC, it is OK, the economy, blah blah, but if a large family uses it then they are irresponsible, should use birth control, blah blah. What is the difference? Both use taxpayer money. But one is acceptable?
I don’t agree with the Duggars philosophy to stop nursing at 6 months to bring back their fertility so they can get pregnant again, if that is what they do, I’ve only heard that is what they said. But if they do that, then they are a bit off on the letting God plan it thing. However, since they ARE supporting their family on their own, I don’t believe that anyone has any right to have the opinion that they should use birth control. This is still a free country. The quiverfull community doesnt’ go around saying that people who use birth control are doing something wrong, even though we know in our hearts that not using it is best for the family. You just don’t know until you are on the other side of the fence. It is your right to choose to use it or not. Everyone deserves that right without being mocked and lied about and slandered all over the internet. More than half of what I find about the Duggars is bad, and not true.
Anyway, I am sorry about how harsh I worded that first comment.

I never said trusting god was stupid, but I do think it is irresponsible. The rest of your soliloquy, I’ll let stand, because it’s far too exhausting to debate each point.

I heard about this one the radio this morning and am glad you posted, Corrin.
I’m from a family of five children. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have 17 siblings. That’s approaching four times my family’s size! Making breakfast, lunch and dinner each night for that many mouths has to be a lot of work! What do they do about the bathroom? That’s a lot of people to share even five bathrooms with.

Daly – there’s only my sister and I, and I remember the two of us running my parents ragged, so I couldn’t imagine. I just don’t think it’s fair to all those kids to have to share their parents 17 ways. It has to have some lasting effects on their self esteem.

You have a great point on the self-esteem angle. It’s like being in a classroom with high student to faculty ratio and it’s tough getting individual attention and time.
My parents were busy being parents (partly due to our culture) that I was closer to my siblings rather than them.

If you check out their website, you can read why they have chosen to trust God with child bearing.
Second, they completely support themselves and don’t use any form of government support.
Third, as far as the breastfeeding theory goes…breastfeeding as a form of birth control only works for the first 6 months or until Mom starts ovulating agian (whichever comes first).
The only reason people criticize the Duggars is because she is doing pregnant with 17 kids, what most women are pulling their hair out doing with only 2 or 3. They don’t understand how it can be done, because they can’t do it themselves. She is good at what she does. She is teaching her kids to be good members of society. If you watch the show and listen to any of the kids talk, you can hear how mature they are. Their oldest is more mature than most people 10 years older than him.
I think she is an excellent role model for mothers out there that are struggling to keep their sanity. She is proof that it is possible to do it and make it out alive.
I personally see her family as a sign of hope for me and my 2 kids that drive me nuts sometimes.

I’m just waiting until one of the children releases a tell-all book. I don’t believe they are good parents, I don’t believe they are responsible parents, I don’t believe they are providing and teaching for all 18 of their children.
