Missed One! A Sneak Peek at Your Favorite Bloggers’ Desks.
I was scanning Twitter the other day (but really, when am I not?) when someone shared a link to What Does Your Desk Look Like: A Sneak Peek at Your Favorite Bloggers’ Desks. I admit to being a bit of a voyeur, so I dove right in.
I know it’s en vogue to embrace your faults. From bad mom to terrible cook to fashion disaster; everyone seems to have a gimmick related to being a nonconformist. But everyone’s desk was so messy that my OCD started to make me twitch. I mean, most of the time my desk looks like this, so you can clearly see my cause for concern:
Sometimes I do get wild and crazy and sloppy and my desk looks like this for about 15 minutes: (Note the day planner and bottled water if you’re struggling with the differences.)
Is complete disarray a hallmark of the blogging community? I can’t be the only blogger with a tidy workplace, can I? Is compulsive tidiness my gimmicky fault to embrace? What does your desk look like? I’ll resist the urge to tidy. Promise.
PS–My mom is probably so proud of me right now. I mean, she is the female Danny Tanner.
PPS–I just organized a Spring Cleaning day at work. You really do turn into your mother.

Looks good! I just have to ask – What do you keep in that tiny green file cabinet!?

It’s a bit of a catch all before paperwork goes to it’s final resting place. From top to bottom: office supplies, bills, paperwork to file, things to mail, blogging stuff.

On the one hand, those photos made me feel a lot better about my current workspace on the dining room table next to bills, an empty coffee mug, yesterday’s mail, my checkbook, random kids’ toys, and a list. On the other hand, they make me REALLY want to go get myself an organized, pretty workspace like yours.

I should have taken photos of my office at work. They tease me that I don’t do anything because my desk (and inbox) are always clear.

ha! sorry to butt in here… but, do you know that I USED to keep my desk so clean I was accused of not doing anything????

OMG, you are NOT allowed in my office! Current residents of my desk include two cereal bowls, an empty popcorn bag, some orange peels and a bra. Oh, and a computer.
Do you make house calls?

Be warned. My primary method of cleaning is throwing everything away.

My desk is even cleaner than that…I have my monitor, the mouse and a pencil holder. LOL

You name the time.
It’s a sickness. I love organizing.

First of all, Cecily’s list doesn’t include very many of MY favorite bloggers.
Now that that’s out of the way, I wonder how those people can work in those environments? My husband can sit with his laptop on a pile of dirty laundry and shoes and papers and work for hours. My desk and office have to be clean and organized, or I just don’t feel right. My desk is the inner sanctum. If it’s messy, you know something is up with me.

Ditto to that first part. (And confession: I don’t even know who most of the are.)

Oh. I. Wish. My desk might look clean like that for 5 minutes, once a month, if I’m lucky. I “want” it to look like that though. Goal for the next 2 weeks: to completely reorganize my desk and make it to where I can actually find something when I need it. I used to have this whole “messy organization” thing going on but not anymore, now it’s devolved into just messy.

Hey, that’s a start! I’m not sure my tidiness is always such an asset. I’ve been known to throw things away that end up being semi-important in an effort to organize.
