If we only had a garage…
I’ve been desperate for a garage for the past two weeks, not only because of the frigid temperatures, but because of the Christmas decorations that need to be put away. With no garage storage, the boxes and crates are stacked in our office, going no place fast.
When we start house-hunting, one of my requirements is a large attached garage with enough room for our cars and storage. Some nice shelves lining one wall so that I can neatly stack Rubbermaid containers full of god knows what. Maybe some bike racks and some bins for shoes.

Hi Corrin! My sister and I have an attached garage at our house and guess what! We have so much stuff in our garage we can’t put a car in it! Back in 2005 we rescued our cat Midnight who was very pregnant and I wanted a room for her to give birth in. I emptied a room and she had 5 kittens, so I left the stuff in the garage, and made the room a playroom for the cats. Time went on and we’ve been busy but now this year we’re going thru our stuff so we can empty the garage and store garage-type stuff on plastic vented shelves, in a Black & Decker wall cabinet and on hooks on a board border surrounding the garage wall. In 10 years here we’ve amassed more stuff so we’re renting a 5 ft. X 5 ft. X 8 ft. high climate controlled storage space. We’re sorting our stuff in Keep-Sell-Recycle-Donate categories. We need to simplify, but whatever we store needs climate control and our attic is too warm in summer, even with a fan to store anything valuable. So by summer we’ll have a car back in the garage again!

Joan – I’m sure that’ll be us, too. It doesn’t take long to accumulate more than you know what to do with! Our apartment is full and we have an entire corner of my parents basement stacked with our stuff.
