Meh, houses are over rated. Clothing is where it’s at! Besides, you can build a tent out of your old clothes if you need shelter! (Not that your clothes are huge, I just mean you have a lot of them so you could stitch them together or something.)

Saving is hard: there’s so much amazing stuff out there, and there are some pretty prominent disincentives to save (i.e. college aid isn’t as readily available for the frugal). A house is a bunch of expenses itself, not to mention the expense of time.
I have money saved, but not for a house or a rainy day. I bought shares in a mutual fund in my early 20′s, and it’s not a lot of money, but it is compounding.
