I know the one.
If there was ever any question about my family being la-di-da, this couch should clear things riiiiiight up.
We clearly could not afford a decent couch.
Though mink stoles were never an issue.
If my parents did hand over their hard earned 1985 currency for that monstrosity, I’d like to give my mother the opportunity to defend their actions in the comments.
(crickets)
{more crickets}
[call an exterminator there's so many damn crickets]
But when encouraged to write about a couch – any couch I’ve ever encountered in my entire 30 years of couch encountering – this is the couch I instantly thought of.
I called my mom to ask for that one picture of that ugly plaid couch with the she interrupted wooden armrests and big cushion buttons.
Oh, yes.
I know the one.
Because that plaid seared itself onto our young, impressionable brains.
Psst…if you were part of the Hallmark inspirational writing workshop at Blissdom, please leave a link to your couch post. I’d love to read them all.

What I really want to know is what the heck are you wearing on your heads?! Are those dust mops?
Also, pretty sure my cousins suffered through the same couch. I have have pictures of me on one of those babies.

Those are only two of the coolest dress up hats EVER! The white one was made completely of sequin and seed beads. I can still remember the rattling sound it made when you shook your head. Delightful.

I love that couch!!! It takes me back to a time that was simpler and our girls would cuddle on that couch with me or their Dad. P.S. In defense of our couch selection we purchased that couch two days after our wedding when I was pregnant with you and suffering severe morning sickness.
Laurie
That couch is totally 80s! Love it! My grandma had something similar. And you and Ash are adorable.

Well, ugly coach or not, it didn’t seem to bother you when the pic was taken. You look like, you and your sister thought you were pretty HOT little glam queens! Those are the pics Mom’s love!

My grandparents totally have that same couch. It was very much in style back in the early 80s… much like brown and yellow colors everywhere in the 70s. I would totally buy a couch like that today, if for nostalgia’s sake only.

I can’t believe how many people had the same bad taste to buy that couch.
moosh in indy.
My grandma still has that couch. In yellow. My butt itches just thinking about it.

Thanks! You should hear my mom talk about this couch. She said she and my dad bought it on the way back from their one night honeymoon at the Holiday Inn in the next town over.
Mrs. Cline
I love this. Because we had a very similar couch, where my most vivid memory is laying on it for what seemed like weeks with mono.
Ah, sweet memory lane.
(Also, my post is long because I can’t follow directions. 3 minutes? Psshhh…)

What the hell – did we all just pass the same couch around? I refuse to believe more than one was ever made.
Annie Salyer
I love the photos! And I thought you were so funny! No, we didn’t have the plaid couch
But we did have something that looks very similar to yours, but in plain brown! So umm… we had slightly better taste…? (crickets transfer here) Thanks, you made me smile

I was not home to do this today but I think I may do this tomorrow. Although I’m not sure a certain couch comes to mind. Hmmmmm… maybe if I do the full exercise I will get something out of it. I love the mink stoles. Those are awesome – and you seem to be enjoying the couch.

We had a similar couch that was handed down to us. One of the buttons lost its fabric cover and it was just a metal disc and I actually cut my leg on it. I also remember my dad falling asleep on that couch and he had the fabric print all on his face with a button circle too.

Fun post! I bet that plaid seared itself onto your young, impressionable skin too – waffle patterns on little elbows and sides of faces left to long.
Love the fancy hats & stoles – perfect little girls

Oh my word…my grandma had that exact couch!! I loved that couch. I have memories of curling up in one of her afghans on that thing and taking many a naps.
