I don’t need it. But I want it.
I spent most of last weekend cleaning out my closet. I donated two boxes of home-goods and two bags of clothing. I trashed two more bags of junk that I didn’t even know I had and I can guarantee no one wanted. And I’m still left with this.
Tank-tops, short-sleeved shirts, delicates, and a dresser full of tshirts on the left. Pants, skirts, dresses, and long-sleeved shirts on the right. Sweaters, cardigans, shorts, and jeans on the back shelf. Not shown: shoes, coats and jackets, scarves and jewelry, pajamas and underthings.
I know in my heart that I do not need anymore clothing (but truth be told, I’m not sure half of what’s in that closet really fits) and yet…I find myself browsing. This week’s obsession? Sweatshirts. Another manifestation of my desire for cooler weather and comfy cozy everything.
But I’m not talking about Jersey brand sweatshirts sold in 50 colors (with matching elastic leg sweatpants, natch!) at the local Walmart. (No judgment. Okay. Maybe a tiny bit of judgment.)
I want embellishments and detailing. I want to be able to bum around and wear to work. I want it all.
Don’t you?

I wasn’t going to vocalize this, but I made a promise to myself not to buy any new clothes until my birthday. I know. I can hardly believe it either. But there is an exception. There’s always an exception. Christmas money can be spent any way I wish.
