Give me book recommendations!

I like to read. A lot. I read during my lunch every day at work and before bed every night. For a while, I was too busy to read, so I amassed a huge stack of books, but now I’m caught up and I have a road-trip from Chicago to New York City and back next week and nothing to read.

So, bring on you book recommendations! What are your favorites? What have you read over and over again? What’s on your list to read that others have given rave reviews?

I like creative non-fiction and memoirs the best. My favorite authors are David Sedaris, Augusten Burroughs and Mary Carr, but don’t be afraid to throw something new my way if you really enjoyed it!

  1. I just read a book I REALLY liked called Jemima J: A Novel About Ugly Ducklings and Swans by Jane Green. It’s fiction but it’s sooooo good. It actually inspired me to start dieting and working out this weekend. Check it out, I really liked it and finished it in 2 days. 🙂

  2. If you haven’t read the Twilight Saga I’d recommend it just for the hype factor. I don’t like to be left out of pop culture, even if it is geared toward teens. I have read all four books. The first two are quick reads (I read them both in less than 48 hours) and the last two drag a little bit.

  3. Laurie – I think I’m going to give Twilight a try. I’m not really into the vampire thing, but it’s gotten so my hype I just can’t ignore it.

  4. I like all books by Chaim Potok. They are about his life growing up and into adulthood as an Orthodox Jew. Older books, but such good reads. You may have heard of My Name is Asher Lev or The Chosen. Those are two of my faves.
