Four Foods on Friday

1966173331-71141d5f0a-14It’s Four Foods on Friday: Ice Storm 2008 Edition! I’m working from home today, so I’m answering this week’s Four Foods on Friday questions early so I’m not distracted all day. Although I do have to go around visiting everyone’s posts!

1. What’s your favorite crunchy food?

I’ve been snacking on La Choy rice noodles lately. They are very crunchy and quite tasty.

2. How often do you try new recipes?

Not as often as I should considering I work with a chef every day.

3. Name a food that you almost always have in the house.

Edamame! The Archer Farms steam bags of edamame from SuperTarget are my favorite. I just bought four bags yesterday.

4. What kind of food do you leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve?

Cookies and milk. Sometimes carrots for the reindeer.

  3. Karen – edamame is just soybeans. You can buy them with or without the shells, and you sprinkle with a little bit of sea salt for a snack. I’ve even started to cook with edamame in rice dishes and soups!

  4. Linda – I think it’s just dumb luck that I like things that are good for me, but I do have a garbage gut. Haha.

  5. Have you ever made that candy with the La Choy noodles? I think you melt white chocolate and something else with it and toss them together. Haystacks, I think they’re called. They’re wonderful!

  6. Anele – YES! Haystacks! I remember my great grandmother making them once. Hers were melted chocolate chips and peanut butter mixed with noodles and then spooned into little stacks.

  7. I really like the La Choy chow mein noodles. And I made that candy with them a long time ago, too. I’ve mentioned it to my family before, and always get a EWWWWWWWWW in response, so I don’t make them.

  8. Those crunchy noodle snacks can be quite yummy and addictive but it’s a ‘controlled item’ as far as my kids are concerned.

  11. I’ve been known to heat up some cream of chicken soup with some chopped up chicken in it and pour it over the top of la choy noodles for a satisfying and crunchy meal. What say you?
