Four Foods on Friday

1966173331-71141d5f0a-10After completely grossing people out with last week’s Four Foods on Friday, I’m going to be a little more subdued for this week’s Four Foods on Friday. I’m only going to discuss foods widely available at major retailers and that Michael Phelps would eat since this week’s edition has a sporty/healthy kick thanks to the Olympics.

1. What do you drink to rehydrate in the heat or after working out?

Lots of water. I sometimes drink Gatorade, but then I realize that all my exercising is worth nothing when I’m drinking something that packs over 200 calories a bottle.

610tqX8F2aL2. What do you eat to help boost or create energy?

Protein! I’m a big fan of Nature Valley’s Almond Crunch bars with almonds, peanuts, and sunflower seeds and 7 grams of protein.

3. What’s the healthiest snack you eat?

I’m not much of a snacker. I like nuts, popcorn, fruit. I rarely grab chips or candy.

4. Share a recipe or instructions for your ideal three course meal.

Mike calls me the “Queen of Side Dishes” when I cook. There’s usually chicken/fish with rice pilaf/brown rice and a veggie. To prepare, follow all package directions. It’s not about fancy. It’s about quick.

I don’t do Gatorade either for that same exact reason. I love almonds. Right now, I’m just popping them whole. I’m going to have to check out my grocery store to see if they carry those yummy-looking crunch bars :)

I will have to check out those bars!

Unfortunately Gatorade is an essential part of training for the 3-Day, so when I do training walks I have to drink it. It’s nasty as hell.

I feel the same about Gatorade. It’s like voiding all the work you just did. I’ve been curious about those bars. I may just throw some in the cart the next trip to the grocery.

I enjoy doing fancy sometimes, but most often – yeah, quick is better! I’ve been buying a lot of packaged rice dishes lately. They’re better than what I would do from scratch and not expensive.

I love those almond crunch bars too. I buy them in bulk at Sams Club.

I eat almonds nearly every day. Those Almond Crunch Bars look delicious!
