Four Foods on Friday

FunCraftsRecipeAdWelcome to the 4th of July edition of Four Foods on Friday! Take a break from beer pong and answer the questions on your blog, then leave a comment at Fun, Crafts and Recipes so everyone can stop by. You’ll be a regular in no time, I promise.

1. Name your biggest cooking influence.

The terms of volume of recipes, most can be credited to my mom, but I would like to be able to cook like Paula Dean without gaining 100 pounds.

2. What is your ultimate comfort food?

Mac & Cheese! Mike and I are still on the hunt for the perfect recipe if anyone has one they would like to share.

3. Name one must have tool that you think every kitchen should have.

I’m still in college-mode kitchen-wise, so I can make do with just about any utensils (or lack of). I do really enjoy a good silicone brush for sauces and marinades though.

4. Share a time saving tip.

Buy pre-diced onions in the freezer section! They are cheap, tasty, and you don’t have to cry when making dinner.

I know this is lame but if in a pinch and still want that great homemade taste mac and cheese, we love Stouffers. We served it in chafing dishes at my mom’s 50th b-day party and everyone was begging for the recipe. :)

You hit the nail on the head. To be able to cook like Paula Deen without gaining weight would be great.

Ha! I just left a comment elsewhere about how I love my silicone brushes! I have really little ones to really long ones (great for the grill) and I can’t do without them.

    I’ve never seen prediced onions.
    Thanks for playing FFOF!
    Stumbled.

I don’t think I can get prediced onions here. I’ve never seen them at the store.

Clair – prediced onions are available in the produce isle and in the freezer section by all the mixed veggies. They are less than a dollar a bag, too!

    Karen – Well, judging from Paula, I don’t think it’s possible. :-P

I used to buy prediced frozen onions. They are convenient! I always have Texas sweet onions on hand, though, and they don’t cause me to cry.

I have heard about pre-diced onions from my sister in Texas, but have never seen them in the store where I live. Great tip! I’ll keep looking for them.
