Four Foods on Friday
It’s time for Four Foods on Friday! Last week was my first week participating, and I thought it was so much fun that I signed up for the weekly reminder. Good thing, too, because I forgot until I got the email last night!
Anywhere, here we go…
1. Cold cuts. Prepackaged or sliced fresh at the deli counter?
It was always deli counter lunch meat as a kid (slice extra thin, but not shaved) but as soon as Oscar Meyer started offering prepackaged deli style chicken and ham, we switched!
2. Which ingredient reduces acidity in red sauce? Corn syrup, molasses or brown sugar.
I always thought it was a half a potato that reduced acidity. Oh wait, maybe that’s for when you add too much salt to something?
3. Whipped cream. Fresh, canned or frozen?
I hate Cool-Whip with a passion, Redi-Whip is passable, but fresh out of a big piping bag is the.best.thing.ever. My mom bought some at Christmas to put on top of our egg nog, and it suddenly appeared on top of coffee, cookies, and straight into mouths.
4. How do you make pea soup? If you don’t, share a recipe that you use peas in.
First, I get out the can opener, because Healthy Choice split pea soup is the only pea soup I’ve ever had, and I adore it. I also think pea salad is a great thing, but I always buy that at the local deli.
Peas are strictly a side dish in our house, and even though I’m a pea person, I’ve never investigated any recipes that include peas. I’ll have to bounce around and look at everyone’s recipes!

Fresh whipped cream. Yummmm!

A can opener! That’s a good one! I think if I were inclined to actually eat split pea soup, which I’m not, I’d use a can opener too!

I personally don’t like split pea soup, but hubby does, so I make it sometimes. I will try the can opener method next time.
