I hear that being trained as a medic in the army means you are the government’s guinea pig and get to stick needles in each other’s arms till you figure out how to insert an IV correctly.

I also hear that you can get in big trouble if you’re a Private and get caught stealing the Drill Sargent’s hat. Good thing he didn’t get caught.

I love both dearly, and obsessed with learning new recipes and cooking techniques and perfecting my Wii skills. When I saw the Order Up! Trailer, I was convinced that SuperVillain Studios developed the game just for me.

The goal of Order Up! is to chop, grill, saute, and prepare dishes in a chaotic restaurant setting while keeping your sous chef in check. The more you play, more complex recipes are added to your menu and better equipment is added to your kitchen.

You use the Wii remote just like real knives, tongs, and spoons to perform actual culinary tehcniques, so I’m hoping those skills translate to my kitchen! I’m super excited about this game, and will be making a special trip out this weekend to purchase.

10 days worth of bareback riding, steer wrestling, roping, bull riding, and barrel racing at UNLV bring cowboys to Vegas. The event was original held in Oklahoma City, but casino legend, Benny Binion, offered more cash than those cowboys could shake a stick at to bring the festivities to Las Vegas, and in 1985, the event moved to Sin City.

The event always takes place the first full week of December, and tickets sell out, hotels are booked, and dinner reservations on the strip are made months in advance. The event is the perfect combination of down and dirty and glitz and glamour.

Saddle Up for the World Series of Rodeo

On any given day, I feel like I’m still 16 years old, but every once in a while, something crosses my path that makes me feel old. The 15th anniversary of Exile in Guyville is definitely that something. If asked, I probably would have said the album was released within the last 10 years. I’m losing track of time!

I’d post the whole album for everyone to enjoy, but my mom reads my blog, and I don’t think she’d appreciate knowing some of the things I was listening to at 16 years old. Instead, enjoy Canary by Liz Phair.

I’ve got the goose bumps just thinking about that trip, and I would have given anything for a Cabin Cuddler during that flight. The Cabin Cuddler is the perfect travel blanket. It’s a full body blanket, with a pocket to keep your feet warm and an inflatable pillow, that folds into its own tote bag for easy transport. The blanket is large enough to wrap around your whole body, but not bulky or cumbersome. It’s great to use on the plane and a real comfort when flights are delayed.

I’ve got quite a few flights scheduled in the next few months, some late night and early morning, and the cabin Cuddler can make my trip much more enjoyable. Winter will be here before you know it, and with gas prices through the roof, I wouldn’t mind having one to curl up with on the couch and read a book!

A cure for the airport shivers…

I’m hunkered down with one candle (sugar cookie - yum), one flashlight, a radio with new batteries (thanks Mom & Dad!), and 45 minutes of battery life left on my laptop.

Note to self: buy extra batteries, more candles,a Slingbox, and a generator.

I thought for sure I’d be dropping a ton of money on three new sets of glasses (I have to have black frames, brown frames, and sunglasses!) for myself, and two new pairs for Mike until I heard about ZenniOptical on The Clark Howard Show.

ZenniOptical has single vision lenses with frames starting at just $8. That even includes the anti-scratch coating and UV protection, which I always pay extra for! Anti-reflective coating (another must for me) is only a $4.95 upgrade! People like Fox News and Clark Howard are raving about their customer service and quality, and those are hard people to please.

I’m usually very neutral with my eyeglass selection (I have a black and brown pair of plastic frames), but for only $8 a pair, I can get a little funky with my selections!
