Our challenge was to dress in white and accessorize with teal (the official color of Ovarian Cancer Awareness) and send in a photo of our “look” for a consultation with a stylist (to see what kind of mess they got themselves in by inviting me, I’m sure), so I thought I’d share what I’ll be wearing!

Being from Austin, where “dressed-up” is clean jeans and flip-flops, I went super casual with my wardrobe and incorporated some unique accessories. Oh, and since I’m a bargain shopper at heart, my entire outfit was purchased for less than $150. Take that Fashion Week.

Well, not me me. I’m too much of a wuss to go under the knife. My blog. Which is kinda me, right? And not really a face lift. A redesign.

The more I think about it, the less sense my post title makes, but I’m committed at this point. There’s still some nips and tucks to be made, but TA-DA! Feast your eyes on my new “look”!

If you follow me on Twitter or have met me in real life, you know that I wear glasses. People have started to recognize me by my glasses. So, I’m going with it. I’ve incorporated my glasses into my business cards and now cute Wayfarer glasses are part of my new blog design, which made it damn near impossible to pass up these adorable eyeglass necklaces when I was out shopping a few weeks ago!

Lucky for you, I’m a hoarder and bought two sets!

And yet, I find myself drawn to this Tommy Hilfiger sleeveless blazer.

If you love to layer – it’s a great way to extend your wardrobe – and want to incorporate a modern take on a classic piece, this is a perfect addition to your wardrobe. I’ve been getting my eyebrows waxed since I was 15-years-old. Highlights since 16. Manicures and pedicures since 17. I am no stranger to the inside of a salon. But waxing, microdermabrasian, Brazilians for tweens goes way past proper hygiene and skin care.

Where’s the Noxzema? The Sea Breeze? The Daisy Razors?

From MSNBC:

One New York City salon, Wanda’s European Skin Care Center, boasts on its Web site that children 8 years and older can get discounted waxing for “virgin” hair. “Virgin hair can be waxed so successfully that growth can be permanently stopped in just 2 to 6 sessions. Save your child a lifetime of waxing … and put the money in the bank for her college education instead!” the salon proclaims.

People aren’t comfortable taking their teenage daughters to the gynecologist but there’s a market for Brazilians for 8-year-olds?! I’m 30-years-old and have trepidations about getting a bikini wax. I can’t imagine how humiliating the experience has the potential to be for a child.

8. Attend NYC Fashion Week.

8. Walk in a fashion show hosted by Kelly Ripa to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) during NYC Fashion Week.

Yet, that’s exactly what I’ll be doing just days before the official start of Fashion Week.

I think I can go ahead and check #8 off my list now.

Electrolux has asked me to participate in a special OCRF-themed fashion show on September 8th to demonstrate how their Perfect Steam™ washer and dryer can take anyone from “Rumpled to Runway.” My challenge is to wear white one last time this summer and accessorize with teal – the official color of Ovarian Cancer Awareness.

Naturally, when it was my turn, I asked her to save my marriage.

The Bloggess, she’s a perceptive one, picking up on my eyes of fire and head full of awesome with just a wayward glance.

I immediately emailed the poem to my husband, who is currently half-way through a three-week stint aboard an oyster boat in the Gulf Coast making sure all BP employees are properly hydrated.

He didn’t ask who The Bloggess was or why she was writing him a poem. He wanted to know which one of us she is waiting in the wings for.

Because that? Could totally determine his fight or flight strategy.

BlogHer is what you make it. If you had an awesome experience, it’s because you are awesome and made it that way. If you thought the whole weekend sucked, it’s because you suck.

Okay, maybe it’s not that black and white.

The marching band practices every morning.

Starting at 6 a.m.

The only good to come from this unfortunate situation is my ability to hum Smoke on the Water on continuous loop and my need for this jacket by Rachel Roy for Macy’s.

It’s not available online and I’ve come back empty handed from two Macy’s stores. This is quickly becoming the item I obsess over this season. I’m offering a finders fee to anyone who can locate an XL.
