I miss you, Autumn.

I am beyond ready for fall. It happens every year around this time. Even though Austin has only had 50-ish 100+ degree days this summer (compared to 100+ last year), I am dying for some cool breezes and sweater weather ( I’ve got some really cute sweaters just waiting to be worn and loved). The promise of endless falls (or no winters, at least) is the reason I moved to Texas, but we’ve just skipped right over my favorite season every year since I’ve moved here.

I’m also really into a trip to the pumpkin patch or apple orchards, but apparently they don’t have those in Texas, so I’m going to have to make do with caramel apple cider from Starbucks and $10 pumpkins from HEB.

Here are some things I love best about fall. Let’s gaze at them longingly, together…

Layers! How I’ve missed you.

Apple pie cider. Add a little brandy and I’m in.

Knit hats. I wear them and love them and don’t care what anybody thinks about my melon head.

Roasted pumpkin seeds. My tried and true recipe is here. Please send me your extra seeds so I can squirrel them away.

Watercolors :: Fallen Leaves

Fall leaves. Last year they just kind of died and fell off the trees without turning pretty colors because of the drought. Le sigh.

What’s your favorite season? Are you super fancy and say autumn instead of fall?

    There is nothing like pumpkin seeds right out of the oven. I think I’m almost ready for fall now.

    I LOVE fall. And yes, no apple orchards, and you’ll have to do with “pumpkin patches” that are at local nurseries. Or go to Sweet Berry Farms. October in Austin is lovely. Also my bday is in October. :)

    There is an apple orchard outside of Lubbock. I used to go every September with my grandparents.

    :) Also my favorite things about autumn. It’s been hot in Reno and temps are finally cooling down this week.

      I cannot wait till it starts to cool down here. It’s only in the 90′s this week, but I don’t consider that cool. :-P

    Fall is absolutely my favorite season. I miss living in Northern Nevada, where they actually have fall and it’s close to Apple Hill, which is an awesome apple festival that happens in Northern California every year. We skip fall in Vegas, though. It’s hot and then it’s not and then it’s hot again. We have very few in-between days when the weather is semi-decent for human existence.

    I’m so ready for fall! It was 80 this week in Seattle. NOT OK! It should be 70 this weekend, but I’m impatiently waiting for 60. I want to bust out the sweaters, boots and scarves already!
