Weekdays are busy, making it hard to spend quality time with Ollie beyond a quick spin around the neighborhood and a game of tug, but come the weekend we head out for an Austin dogventure!
We like to hit the trails at Zilker Park early while it’s still cool and before it gets too crowded. Ollie likes the trail best when he can take in the sights and stop to smell (and pee on) the flowers.
After a few miles, we head over to Barking Springs (are we the only people dorky enough to call it that?), the doggie beach just north of Barton Springs Pool, to cool down and relax. Ollie isn’t much of a swimmer, but he likes to dip his paws in when it’s hot and poke around on the rocks.
All that hiking and swimming calls for a breakfast taco, so we like to stop at our favorite taco joint, Taco Deli, on our way home. An Otto for me (black beans, bacon, avocado, and cheese) and an egg and cheese for Ollie. They’ve got a great outdoor seating area and nobody minds if Ollie gives them sad eyes and begs for queso.
If you can’t take your dog on your next adventure, check out DogVacay, a website and app that makes finding great pet sitters super duper simple. Pet owners can search for pet sitters in their area, book stays and pay online, and get daily photo “pup”dates, so overprotective pet parents (like me) can rest easy knowing that their best friend is in great hands. You can even find someone to stay at your own home with your pet if that’s where they’re most comfortable. All DogVacay reservations also include free pet insurance and 24/7 customer support.
