I’m not much of a political person. I research the candidates, follow the debates, and vote. I’m not one to engage in a heated political debate seven though my husband and I are divided on candidates. I do appreciate some light hearted political humor and an attempt by the candidates to reach new audiences, like the Deratany Satire on GetFave.com.

If you’re not from the Chicago-land area, Jay Paul Deratany is a Cook County Board of Review candidate, running against Joe Berrios and Todd Stroger. The viral politics at GetFave.com gives Deratany the chance poke a little fun at the shady business that has been going on within the Board and stress his position on tax reform. The video is quick and snappy, makes some great points, and definitely brings to mind the Jib Jab presidential videos!

For people that aren’t true political followers, like myself, these viral videos are a great way to generate some buzz and get your message across without succumbing to the typical boring political ads. They also appeal to a younger audience and plays into the whole grassroots campaign, costing very little to produced when compared to typical television ad campaigns.

I don’t live in Cook County, but I will be passing the video on to friends and family that do, and I think it might help them make up their mind about who to vote into the Board of Review!
