oneeskimo 500 largeI’ve been listening to One eskimO’s self titled album for two weeks. Over and over again. Hoping that something, anything, would grab me.

One eskimO is a critically-acclaimed English band that has performed at Coachella, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show, been featured in a Toyota Prius commercial, sold over 35k albums, and have a #1 hit with Kandi.

And yet, I still find them to be meh. Maybe it’s the comparisons to Damien Rice, who I adore, or their insistence on spelling eskimO with a lowercase e and capital O, but I’m not feeling the music.

But, I want to give you the opportunity to decide for yourself if One eskimO delivers on all the hype.

Leave a comment telling me who your all time favorite band is.

One winner will receive the self titled album by One eskimO and a One eskimO t-shirt. Entries will be accepted through May 29th.

If you dig One eskimO, make sure to check them out on tour this summer.

Son of a biscuit.

I’ve been obsessed with Camera Obscura the past few weeks and have totally been meaning to share a song/video with all of you, and then Girl’s Gone Child goes and beats me to it and I look like the copy cat.

Enjoy a different song from Camera Obscura.

Because I’m original like that.

My love for Dakota Fanning eclipses my disdain for Kristen Stewart.

I cannot wait to see The Runaways.

My Mom emailed me the other day telling me to visit Elf Yourself like it was some HOT NEW THING. She went on and on about how funny it is and I said yeah, four years ago.

But yesterday’s ill-timed nap kept me up until the wee hours of the morning and in an effort to stop myself from making late night Etsy purchases, I wound up “elf-ing” the whole family.

And it’s still damn funny.

I’ve never seen The Sound of Music. I have no idea what it’s about. Okay, maybe a foggy idea – a nun? orphans? goats? Julie Andrews’ bad haircut?

Sound Of Music - SQcvI do know two songs that I think are from the musical – The Lonely Goatherd thanks to Gwen Stefani’s song Wind It Up and Do-Re-Me thanks to my 4th grade music teacher, Mrs. Column.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Broadway musical, so it’s about time I got my act together – and what better way to do so than by having The Sound of Music: 50th Anniversary Edition as my first listen.

A fully restored recording of the original Broadway cast, this special anniversary edition makes it clear why The Sound of Music became one of the longest running musicals ever and why contemporary artists like Gwen Stefani find inspiration from the music and lyrics of Rogers & Hammerstein.

SoundofMusicAlong with the limited edition soundtrack, The Sound of Music: A Classic Collectible Pop-Up is the most whimsical and charming pop-up book I’ve seen. It captures the spirit of the musical to a tee. The engineering behind the book is so intricate and unforgettable that you’ll want to add it to your library.

Whether you’re old or young, familiar with the movie or musical, the anniversary sound track and pop-up book are the perfect way to continue to enjoy this hit musical – or in my case – as an introduction to this classic.

I’m now off to add The Sound of Music to my Netflix queue!
