You guys. They’re totally pulling a Mad Men on us. No new episodes of Downton Abbey until 2013.

That’s six months from now. I’m not sure I can wait that long, so I just keep trolling the internet for new Downtown stuff to tide me over.

Let’s Talk About Money mug
Lady Mary Crawley silk scarf

Downtown Abbey paper dolls
Daisy sketch (I love to hate Daisy)
Downton pillow (sadly this is no longer for sale anywhere)
Downton Abbey letterpress

Are you excited about the Olympics? I’m so excited I want to arm wrestle complete strangers just for the thrill of competition!

I’ve always loved the Olympics – though I must admit I prefer the whole shebang every four years. The 1992 winter games in Albertville (how you doin’, Bonnie Blair? You too, Kristi Yamaguchi?) was the first I remember really realizing how amazing the whole thing is – from the history to the preparation to the athletes themselves. And especially that little ticker with the medal count. I become obsessed with our medal count.

And now that the Queen is involved? The anticipation is palpable. Lizzy knows how to throw a helluva party (see: The Diamond Jubilee).

I always look forward to volleyball and swimming, but really? I’ll watch whatever is one. Will you be watching?

PS
I’m choosing to completely ignore London’s ghastly Olympic logo.

This Black Friday, I want everyone (myself included) to remember two things.

1. Be kind. Print out this nice note from Operation Nice and share it with others while you shop. Drop one in someone’s cart, stuff one in a pocket of a new pair of jeans, or prop one up against a game in the toy aisle.

be kind

2. Think of others. While you’re out bargain hunting, pick up some necessities for someone in need or think about participating in the Salvation Army Angle Giving Tree. You can adopt an Angel online, print out their sizes and wish list, and drop off your donation on the way home.

Our Angel wanted socks and shoes.

And a baby doll with a stroller.

Check, check, and check. (With a little bit of style thrown in for fun.)

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carmex®. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’m not a flowery person. I love flowers, I just don’t use any cosmetics, makeup, lotions or potions that try to smell like flowers (try being the operative word). I don’t want to be that woman that walks by and has her “signature fragrance” linger five minutes after she’s left.

It’s harder than you’d think to find a lotion with a subtle fragrance. It seems like everything is made to smell as obnoxious as their names – enchanted orchid, juniper breeze, and night-blooming jasmine. (Seriously, someone gets paid to come up with these names? I think it’s just a ploy to distract woman from the fact that they don’t work.) Except the new Carmex® Healing Lotion and Carmex® Healing Cream.

I’ve been using both for the past week and the first thing I noticed (or didn’t notice, actually) was the light, clean smell. Both lotions have a hint of the classic Carmex scent, which I love and trust for it’s healing properties.

Healing properties that extend to all products in the Carmex family. The Healing Lotion is a great all over lotion after a shower and the Healing Cream is perfect for targeting dry elbows, knees, and feet. In the past week, I’ve flown twice and went from warm Texas weather to cooler Chicago weather and back again without suffering from dry skin or itchy elbows thanks to Carmex.

I love that Carmex® Healing Lotion and Carmex® Healing Cream are exactly what they say they are. Non-greasy, full of soothing aloe and nourishing vitamins, with a pleasant scent. Both can be found at Walgreens, walgreens.com and drugstore.com.

No flowery names or fragrances.

letsshopSo, lets talk about the skirt that I got on clearance at Target for $3! Can you believe it? THREE MEASLY DOLLARS!

Fun print, great colors, and piping details – I couldn’t pass it up. Of course, I’m now dying to accessorize, but I pulled together a look for just over $100 – including shoes and bag!

What do you think?

(I’m leaving out the widget this week – but if more people join in, I’ll bring it back!)
