Thanks for joining us for Cash, Money, Clothes! Where I shame myself into saving instead of spending by sharing my bad spending habits.

Joking. Kinda.

The entire time I was in college…and grad school…and when I first started working full time…it never dawned on me that I’d actually have to, you know, go to work every single day for pretty much the rest of my life. I don’t know what I thought I’d do with $150,000 worth of schooling if I didn’t work, but it didn’t feel like my fate. It still doesn’t. Which makes having an alarm set for 6 am for the past ten years a real bummer. But at least there’s being able to afford sushi to make up for it.

  • $30 Costco
  • $35 CVS
  • $71 grocery
  • $15 grocery
  • $7 car wash
  • $33 Target
  • $34 sushi
  • $450 Prius maintenance

Where’d you spend your money this week?

I’m not pissed, just a little restless lately. Either way, shopping is usually the answer, but I’ve resisted. Well, resisted the excessively frivolous, at least.

  • $152 Texas Running Company
  • $17 brunch with friends
  • $13 lunch with coworkers

I have two 5k races in my future. If I live through them, I’m buying some pretty shoes, damnit.

What did you buy this week?

Forgive me bloggers, for I have sinned. It’s been 30 days since I began my shopping sabbatical and I’ve spent $24.

BUT I CAN EXPLAIN.

I am completely powerless to resist the weekly $10 Buried Bauble from BaubleBar. POWERLESSS, I tell you. It’s the highlight of my week. (Except when the Buried Bauble is earrings. Then I feel like my week is missing something because I never buy earrings.)

And the jean jacket. THE JEAN JACKET! On sale, with a coupon, plus a rewards certificate. Grand total? $4. It’s my new favorite wardrobe staple. I’m wearing it right now. Everyone need ones.

I’ll do better next month. Pinkie swear.

Are you joining in the shopping sabbatical? Have you cheated? It’s okay. Get it off your chest. We have 60 days left to redeem ourselves.

Thanks for coming back for more Cash, Money, Clothes! Where I shame myself into saving instead of spending by sharing my money woes.

Since we're talking about cash, I figured Johnny should join us.

Another week of being an adult. When does this self-imposed shopping sabbatical end? I want new shoes.

  •  $33 gas
  • $40 grocery
  • $65 Costco
  • $76 Apple (Don’t get excited. It’s just a car charger and a phone case.)
  • $33 NewEgg (Again, nothing too exciting – a refurbished keyboard for my iPad)
  • $183 memory foam mattress topper (I’m giving it one week, and if I still wake up crippled, it’s going back.)

And here’s what I spent on my trip to South Padre Island last weekend. Not bad for three days away.

  • $36 gas
  • $100 food
  • $125 vet
