Mattel Introduces Newest Barbie – Julia Roy Impersonator…I mean Computer Engineer!

barbieBarbie recently got her 125th job.

As a Julia Roy impersonator computer engineer.

You can tell she’s all brains by her glasses and binary graphic tee. And her pink laptop is sure to catapult her straight to the top of her profession.

That is, if she isn’t outsourced first.

I told you so.

I called it. I knew it. I told you so.

Blissdom is the new Blogher.

Calm, cool, and collected. Until Harry Connick Jr. walked on stage and we all lost our shit.

In the most lady-like of ways, of course.

Before I left for Blissdom, I made a decision. A big decision. This conference wasn’t going to be about blogging as a business for me. It was going to be about blogging for the bliss of it.

I learned about inspirational writing and encouragement from Hallmark, about rediscovering play from Kevin Caroll, and about putting my best foot forward from Alli Worthington. I heard how Megan Jordan, Catherine Connors, and Tanis Miller artfully craft their stories, and how Nester Smith created her (fabulously well designed) niche.

I came home with ideas and stories and improvements I want to make, not just to my blog.

But for myself.

I couldn’t have experienced any of it without GoGirl. Who sent me to Blissdom and asked nothing more of me than to go, enjoy, and find my bliss.

I’ve checked in, participated on one Wisdom Workshop, am freshening up for the evening gatherings, and I’m already confident that Blissdom is the new Blogher.

It’s eclectic and intimate, the accommodations are stunning and well organized, and swag distribution is civilized and pleasant.

I get to experience all of this thanks to GoGirl – the female urination device that is perfect for girls on the go. The GoGirl is super small and compact – perfect for purses, backpacks, and glove compartments. All you do is firmly press the GoGirl against your girlie bits, aim at your intended target, and…go, girl!

If you’re at Blissdom lets exchange business cards! I have exclusive goodie bags that include 2 GoGirls, a GoGirls t-shirt, and other GoGirls goodies. I’ll be drawing the winners from the business cards I collect and you can pick up your goodies before you leave Blissdom!

I also have samples and goodies to hand out randomly at all the after hour parties, so make sure to introduce yourself!

If you’re not at Blissdom don’t fret! GoGirls wants everyone to experience the bliss.

Use the coupon code BLISSDOM for $2 off your next GoGirls order through the month of February!

I also have 2 GoGirls to give away! Just leave a comment and I’ll select 2 winners at random at the end of Blissdom!

Another BLISSFUL Journey!

Our moving pods were delivered today and nearly everything we own is packed, loaded, and ready to start its journey to Texas. In the middle of the chaos, I got a very peculiar Tweet.

Then I got awesome news about another journey!

GoGirlThat’s right – GoGirl is sending me to the Blissdom Conference in Nashville next month!

If you’re not familiar with GoGirl, then you’re missing out on the amazing ability to pee sending up! For reals. GoGirl is a female urination device that is perfect for girls on the go – hiking, traveling, concerts, dirty rest stops, emergency tinkle breaks – anywhere it isn’t safe, sanitary, or convenient to pop a squat.

Blissdom is an incredible conference for women who find their bliss by blogging, networking through social media, and spending time online. This will be my second trip to Blissdom and I’m really looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting more savvy friends!

If you’re headed to Blissdom, make sure to say hello!

I’ll be the one peeing standing up.

The Power of Giving – Doing Good Through Social Media

I was recently interviewed by the delightful Azim Jamal (And he is absolutely delightful – so calm and collected. It would probably do me some good to spend some more time around him!) on the topic of his latest book, The Power of Giving, and how I’ve personally used social media to do good and help raise awareness for a cause that is important to me.

I don’t know how this is possible – but I’m not completely mortified by my interview. My hair could use a fluffing and I could stand to lose 75 pounds, but overall it was a pleasant experience.

Maybe it’s because Azim is on to something – I did something good (not to toot my own horn, but I do think we had a successful tweetup), I was enriched by the experience, and I’m comfortable spreading the word.

I have not yet red Azim’s book, but I look forward to doing so! If you’ve read it, let me know what you think.
