Oh hey, what's up?

Blissdom 09

I drove 13 hours round-trip, was the only person without kids, skipped the pajama party out of principle, and had cold showers both mornings, but you know what…I had a great time at Blissdom.

I attended all of the Maven panels and everyone was interesting and engaging, and it was nice to be around so many other bloggers for the very first time. I picked up a few tips and came home with some new ideas, but most of the information reinforced what I already knew or assumed, and a little validation feels good.

And as  a perk, I just finished reading Such a Pretty Fat by Jen Lancaster, and she just so happened to be the keynote speaker! I could have lived without Yanni Voices, but I’m definitely digging Chris Mann.

Here’s just a few of the people I met in the lats 48 hours…

If you were there, too, let me know! If I gave you my card, leave a comment! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitter!

Oh, and a big shout out to the woman in room #308. Were you sick or was it a case of too many Blisstinis? Because hearing you vomit at 2 am was about as much fun for me as it was for you. Hope you feel better!

I did take one picture. Just to prove I really was there and wasn’t living vicariously through Twitter.

I really wished I could have gone. Even with the Insider travel allowance, I just didn’t have the money up front. Playgroupie and Queen of Shake Shake and of course Ali are the BEST! Next year I’m going to save up and go for sure!

I’ve read all of Jenn Lancaster’s books and she is hilarious!

Fun! Glad you had a good time and felt that it was worthwhile. Sorry you had a sickie neighbor. I wish I had gotten on the ball and gotten a ticket before it sold out. As things turned out, I wouldn’t have had to worry about the time off work. haha

I really am enjoying reading about everyone’s take on Blissdom. I passed on going this year as I want to make it to BlogHer and possibly 2 other events this year. We’ll see.

Sorry about the sick neighbor, that is no fun.

Laurie – I was going to mention something about your free-time, but decided that might have been inconsiderate. :-) Though I do wish you would have come!

Elizabeth – I was really lucky I was able to drive to Blissdom. If airfare would have been necessary, I would have never been able to go. I have enough money left to go to Blogher, Izeafest and ASE.

I enjoy reading about these gatherings and people having fun and learning new things and exchange experiences. Keep us posted about fun events like that – an event I’ve been to this weekend made me realize that most people are desperate for laughter and positive news…

Looks and sounds like you had a pretty good time with the exception of your neighbor.

that sounds like fun. i’ve never gone to a blog conference, but i think it would be fun to do that sometime.

Glad you had such a great time. It’s so great meeting other bloggers in RL (real life) isn’t it? Sometimes you forget you’re talking to real people

Sounds like a worthwhile trip. I am very shy in person. It is fun to meet IRL although some think I am snobby when in reality I am painfully shy.

How’d you get that little Twitter Id option up there! That’s TOO cool! I enjoyed meeting you at Blissdom. Didn’t realize you had no kids. Do you plan to one day? Just wondering! I need to find you on Twitter.

Cady – It was a lot of fun. People are so much different in person!

Owen – They touched on that subject a lot. Even the big name bloggers are just people behind a computer. We forget that.

Karen – I would never in a million years guess that you were so shy! But I can understand. I ate room service both nights. :-)

I think the key to warm showers was to get up and in the shower by 6:30 am. We’ll have to remember that next time.

Oh no about the person in that room! I wish we could have had a chance to visit! By the way- I love your daily mugshot!

Sorry I didn’t get to meet you! The walls WERE incredibly thin! So thin, I heard my name mentioned in the room next but don’t know what they said. Would rather not know in case it something bad. Going to have to try the tweet thing for comments very cool! :)

OMG I laughed so hard I almost peed at the shout-out to Room 308!

I LOVED meeting so many awesome peeps, yourself included, of course! I am so glad I went, bc I have already set aside the money for BlogHer…it was just too much fun to pass up another chance to (hopefully) impress ya’ll by not acting like as much of an idiot, hah!
