Bed Hog

3052060059 07b7ea4702Ollie is a little bitty weiner dog that thinks he’s a great dane and hogs more than his fair share of the bed. I’ve woken up more than once to see Mike clinging to the side of the bed because Ollie won’t make room for him to get comfortable.

Besides buying Ollie his own queen size mattress, the only solution to a good night sleep for Mike and I are large dog beds so that Ollie can sprawl out like he’s accustom to doing.

I’m partial to the Harry Barker dog beds because they come in simple shapes and colors that match our apartment, but the Bowsers dog beds, especially the Bowsers Ball, look awfully comfy, too.

So, if we do ever kick Ollie out of bed in favor of a peaceful slumber, don’t feel sorry for him, because he’ll be relaxing in his own designer dog bed.

I would say to go buy yourselves great big, brand new, comfy pillows. Then take your old pillows and toss them on the floor for Ollie to sleep on. You’ll spend about as much on awesome new pillows as you would a new doggie bed, and Ollie will appreciate it almost as much (let’s face it, he’s not going to be happy with being kicked off the bed either way!). If you’re going to spend the money anyway, you might as well enjoy what you’re buying…

Michael – Unfortunately, Ollie takes pillows as a personal challenge and makes it his mission to rip out all the feathers. :-P

Good luck with that! Brownie has quite a few designer beds, but still insists on sleeping in the bed with us on top of or underneath my Ralph Lauren bedspread. It’s a lost cause.

We have two cavaliers and two cats and ALL of them sleep in our bed thanks to DH – and he’s had his pets sleeping in his bed since he was a child. They’re allowed to sleep anywhere except on our pillows and they’re pretty good about it. Occassionally our oldest Cavalier will try to put her head on DHs pillow but she is quickly moved…..

Both my cats have beautiful fluffy and cozy beds and still sleep in our bed.

KC is like that sometimes too. She’s not a big dog but can take up a lot of space when she lays crossways … and we let her :)

Julie – That’s cause we spoil our pets and they think they are people. I am definitely NOT the pack leader in my house.
