Awesome Austin, Yum

Austin Queso Crawl

There are two main reasons I moved to Austin.

1.) Not having to worry about falling and breaking my neck on snow or ice for 4 months out of every year and 2.) queso.

Thanks to a rare ice storm in 2013, I narrowly avoided #1 but #2 continues to keep me loving this fine city.

If you ever find yourself in Texas, I highly recommend embarking on an Austin queso crawl. The list below includes some old favorites, some guilty pleasures, and some tourists traps but they all have one thing in common — they’re all endorsed by me and my waistline.

Do you have any favorite queso joints that I need to try? I know there’s no shortage!

  1. Honestly, I’m not a fan of Torchy’s queso. Maybe it’s the diablo sauce. I love queso fundido, especially from Pappasito’s. I had it recently at a local Tex-Mex joint and it was almost all grease. Apparently there’s an art to making a good fundido.
