5 Minute Chocolate Cake

When I first heard saw the 5 Minute Chocolate Cake recipe, I thought it had to be too good to be true. That meant that I had to test it for myself immediately.

Sure enough, it worked! Although being able to make chocolate cake in 5 minutes might be a mixed blessing.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional…replace with Hershey Kisses for true gluttony)
  • A small splash of vanilla extract (I always recommend Nielsen-Massey Vanilla)
  • 1 large coffee mug (microwave safe!)

Add dry ingredients to mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (or Hershey Kisses in this case…they aren’t so much optional any more) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put mug in microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top if you use a standard mug, but don’t be freaked out! Just think of the ooey gooey goodness that awaits. Allow to cool a little, then dig in. You can tip it out onto a plate and add some chocolate frosting or ice cream (or both!) if you want to get all fancy.
