Today it is bright and sunny in Texas. Temperatures are hoovering around being officially spring-y (that’s 60 degrees if you need to be precise). And my new humming bird feeder is ready to be hung.

It’s lovely, isn’t it?

I can’t wait to see how many tiny, colorful hummingbirds show up on my balcony for a nectar feast!

I was sent the best hummingbird feeder and asked to give it a whirl. I mixed up the nectar (1 teaspoons of nectar powder per 2 ounces of water – no boiling required!), unscrewed the wide mouth top (a feature hummingbird enthusiasts say is a must for any good feeder), and poured. I then held the base and gently pulled up on the container and a little *glub*glub*glub* filled the flowers with nectar!

Super easy and absolutely no mess. It only took about 30 seconds to get my feeder ready for my new little hummingbird friends.

BirdFeeders.com has hummingbird feeders starting at $11 so that you can attract these delightful little birds to your balcony or garden. You can also play the Top-Fill Challenge for a chance to win a hummingbird feeder!

There are many many many many cute spring clothes at Old Navy that I’m dying to purchase.

This is not one of them.

jumpsuit

I also object to ‘it’ being thrown in with the {typically adorable} Old Navy dresses and skirts.

I have eight years of marketing experience. I have my MBA from a Big Ten University. I’m friendly and outgoing and have a strong work ethic.

My self-esteem isn’t hurting, either.

Finding a job shouldn’t be hard. But it is. I’ve had one interview in the past month (well – three with one company). And I never heard back from them.

So, what’s the problem?

I’m sure they Googled me. Everybody Googles everybody. I’ve probably Googled you.

So, is my blog the problem?

I wouldn’t hesitate to talk about anything I’ve ever blogged about.  I’ve made lots of friends and traveled all over the country because of my blog. My mom reads my bog and doesn’t seem too offended – except when I say balls. She doesn’t like when I say balls. And I don’t blog about anything particularly controversial – except maybe that one post about the Duggars. People really got whipped up over that one.

The biggest blogging compliment I ever received was that I act and talk exactly like I blog. If you don’t like my blog, you probably won’t like me.

So, why is this eating at me?

Oh, that’s right – because I need a paycheck.

Potential employers – please see my Linkedin profile.

And take the vibrator posts with a grain of salt.

I had a (major) meltdown when my husband and I weren’t approved for a mortgage last fall. I was embarrassed and disappointed and started packing to move into a van down by the river while others were taking advantage of the $8,000 Tax Credit and moving into their new ($800,000 or under) home that President Obama so graciously bestowed upon them.

Rant: If someone can afford an $800,000 home, why do they need an $8,000 tax credit that couples like us could use as a down payment on their first home?

But then something miraculous happened. We decided to move across the country and began to be thankful that we didn’t buy a home.

Now that we’re settled in (to a dinky little one bedroom apartment) the area of town we thought we wanted to buy a home in is one of our least favorite neighborhoods. The jobs we thought we would be working aren’t all they were made out to be. We needed the flexibility of renting in order to find our place in a new city.

Granted, we would have liked the extra $8,000 in our hot little hands (I have my eye on a new DSLR camera – but that’s probably how we got into this mess in the first place) but it wasn’t our time.

If it is your time to buy a home, here are some of the details.

  • $8,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers or those who have not
  • Current homeowners are eligible for a $6,500 tax credit if they have lived in their current home consecutively for five of the past eight years.
  • Income limits are $125,000 for singles and $225,00 for couples.
  • Qualified homeowners need to have a written, binding contract by April 30, 2010 to be eligible.

We’ll be expecting an invitation to dinner soon.

I know breakfast is good for me, but do I ever actually eat breakfast? No.

I blame my personal chef. He never shows up.

Oh well. I didn’t need him this morning anyway. I made myself a Yoplait Frozen Smoothie – full of fresh fruit and creamy yogurt. Just add a splash of milk and blend.

Even I can do that.

At 110 calories per serving and with flavors like strawberry banana, strawberry mango pineapple, and triple berry – I know Yoplait Frozen Smoothies are good for me.
