Oh hey, what's up?

Archive for December, 2008

Today is the day I’m supposed to put my 2009 resolutions out there and then let everyone watch me break them within the first month, right?

Well not this year. This year I’m playing fast and loose with resolutions and putting together a more general approach to life instead.

  • Find out what’s wrong with me and fix it.
  • Stick to a diet plan.
  • Exert some energy by using Wii Fit regularly.
  • Focus on finances.
  • Relax. Physically and mentally.

That’s it. That’s my approach to life starting Thursday.

Now, I’m going to ring in the new Year by eating Bagle Bites, drinking cheap Chapagne, and watching Dog the Bounty Hunter with my husband.

game-over-full

Mike has a propensity for crazy t-shirts. Especially when we go on vacation. For a soft spoken guy, I think he likes the attention of his t-shirts being a bit smart mouthed.

Two years ago when we eloped in Vegas it was “Game Over” with a bride and a groom, which I wasn’t exactly thrilled with. At our wedding party it was a fake tuxedo, which got lots of laughs. Last year it was “I <3 my weiner” with a sketch of a dachshund, which may not have been Disney appropriate, but he wore it anyway, This year it was “Dachshunds for Obama”, which was met with mixed emotions.

Next year, who knows what he’ll be wearing, but he’ll have a hard time choosing his favorite from Crazy Dog t-shirts. They have so many funny t-shirts, that you can’t just order one, and with their $4 shipping sale, now is the time to stock up!

Those are just a few of my favorites (though I think Stay Golden just may be my most favorite) and I have a few picked out for Mike as Valentine’s presents, but I can’t show you those. If you know Mike and I and our sense of humor, I’m sure you can pick them out when you visit Crazy Dog t-shirts.

If you live in the Chicagoland area, you watch WGN news and you’re familiar with weekend anchors Bob Jordan and Jackie Bange. I know they are two of my favorites.

What you’re probably not familiar with is their 2 minute and 40 second choreographed dance that takes place during the first commercial break of each broadcast.

That is one seriously choreographed routine and I absolutely love how Bob Jordan jumps right back into the broadcast.

GeekGoddess cvr frontI wish I would have received How To Be A Geek Goddess before the holidays, because I would have totally regifted it to my mom. How To Be A Geek Goddess is full of “practical advice for using computers with smarts and style” by Christina Tynan-Wood.

Being a long-time blogger, I immediately flipped to the section on blogging (chapter 11, pages 280-283). While I think the section was a little slim, it gives the author an excuse to write How To Be A Blog Goddess someday and contains some great beginning blogger information, like how to start a blog and purchase a domain.

Simple explainations of everything from buying a computer to mastering email and IM to how to connect through social and professional networks is included in the book, plus super cute “Dear Geek Goddess” letters in every section. It’s a melding of technology, parenting, and education that anyone can grasp and you can get a taste of the style by downloading Chapter 5: Shopping!

If you’d like to learn How To Be A Geek Goddess, just leave a comment telling me what you’d most like to learn from the book. You can also Twitter the following and leave a comment with a link to your Tweet for an additional entry:
