Oh hey, what's up?

Archive for September, 2008

So, what do you think? Have you been dying of anticipation like I have? Is it everything you hoped it would be?

I am in love with the new design and the guys over at Sandpaper Studio that made it happen (Hi – Joe, Patrick, and Torrey!)! I keep teasing that I’m going to have the little birdie in my header tattooed so that he’s perched on my shoulder just like he is on my blog. Wouldn’t my mom love that?

Enough gushing…leave a comment with what you think, tell the guys they did a great job, and let me know if you run into any problems!

EDIT: We’re working out some kinks, but the super cute new theme will be back up before you know it. Check back and let me know what you think!

Is there something you always forget when you go on vacation? A toiletry or a pair of shoes or an iPod charger that never makes it into your luggage?

We leave for Disney on Saturday, and last year, I forgot to pack toothpaste. I bought the last travel tube from the gift shop which lasted until the second to last day of our trip, at which point we were screwed because (interesting fact) Disney doesn’t sell gum!

Because of our crazy schedules this week, we packed last weekend, but I have a list of last minute items to throw into our luggage, and I’m listing them here so I don’t forget!

So, what do you always forget when you leave for vacation?

Even though I’m strictly a flats girl now, I’ve paddle-footed around in a lot of sky-high, strappy heels in my day, but these leave me completely dumbfounded. These…contraptions from Aminaka Wilmont are the most bizarre piece of “wearable” art I’ve ever seen.

How do you…where would you…who would? My foot is cramping just looking at that photo.

I have a really bad habit of buying fresh fruits and veggies with the best of intentions and then letting them rot in the crisper. I knew better than to buy grapes and carrots on my last trip to the grocery because I wasn’t going to be home much during the week, but Naked Juice caught my eye and I grabbed a few thinking I could sneak all my fruits and veggies in on the sly.

naked overview

I wasn’t expecting much besides having to hold my nose and gulp them down but I was pleasantly surprised when Mike and I shared a Berry Blast (1 lb. of strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, plus lots of “boosters”) on our evening walk. It says a lot when Mike comments that Naked Juice is pretty good because I’ve never seen him eat a fruit or vegetable unless it comes in spaghetti sauce. He swears he’s a “super taster” and every fresh fruit and veggie known to man tastes bitter to him.

This morning, Green Machine (apples, banana, kiwi, mango, pineapple, plus algaes, broccoli, parsley, and more) didn’t disappoint, either.

Naked Juice will definitely be in my cart on my next trip to the grocery, and I might even get a little more adventurous and try some funkier flavors like mangosteen!

My new blog design is almost complete, and I am so excited to unveil the new theme. It’s a great facelift for my blog and I think it really sets the tone for where I want to go. In the meantime, I’m busy ordering blog swag with my new colors and logo! I always use VistaPrint when ordering printed items for my blog and they have always met the highest of expectations. They are fast, the colors are sharp, and hello…FREE!

My usual order consists of business cards, pens, and sticky notes with my blog graphic and contact information. Once you start handing out swag, you’d be amazed at how many people visit your blog and ask for more!

Besides my little corner of the internet, I’ve used VistaPrint for corporate holiday cards and client projects. I’m so confident in their service and quality, that I’ve never hesitated using them for client work or recommending their site to others.

I’ve never gone this big before, but Magnetic car signs with my blog header and web address might be in order to celebrate the new design. Especially since the coupon code CarDoor25 gets you 25% off car door magnets! Large or small, custom or template, VistaPrint has magnetic car signs that will make a statement, as well as business cards, swag, signage, and much more!
