Four Foods on Friday

1966173331 71141d5f0aI’ve been super bad about getting my Four Foods on Friday questions answered on time, and even worse at buzzing around and reading everyone’s answers, but this week is going to be different thanks to the long weekend. I promise I’ll stop by and comment on everyone’s answers (except those that make me login to comment - please let everyone comment).

1. Potato Chips. What kind of chips are your favorite?

I like original Jay’s and tortilla chips on taco night (and once in a blue moon I’ll get a taste for Doritos), but Mike’s constantly begging me to buy snacks because I never keep chips in the house.

2. What’s your favorite thing to dip chips in?

Guacamole…without the onion or tomato, which basically means I just like mushed up avocado.

3. What’s your favorite way to eat a baked potato?

Sour cream and chives…but baked potatoes are another food we rarely eat.

4. How do you make mashed potatoes?

My sister just asked me how to make mashed potatoes the other day. I peel, quarter, and boil potatoes until they are soft. Then I drain, add a dollop of butter, salt, pepper, and parsley, then mash the daylights out of them. If I’m feeling extra unhealthy, I’ll add a chunk of cream cheese before mashing.

Dex Knows Chicago

Even though I was born and raised in the Chicagoland-area, I still need a little help locating a phone number or address from time-to-time. The Chicago Yellow Pages were a life safer Tuesday morning when Mike’s car was vandalized and we needed an Auto Repair in Chicago quick!

If you’re looking for a number in the Chicago area, or anywhere else, Dex knows your city. Just let them know what you’re looking for and where, and they’ll supply you with an entire list of auto repair shops, night clubs, doctors, restaurants, attorneys, and more. In seconds, Dex gave us a listing of 1,270 auto repair shops and Mike’s car will be fixed in no time!

Pringles Baked Wheat Stix

2My new favorite snack is the Baked Wheat Stix from Pringles. They come 10 packs to a box for under $3, and each pack contains 12 stix for only 90 calories! They are hard to find, so when I saw them in the store last week, I snatched six boxes, just in case they aren’t around long.Pringles Baked Wheat Stix are the perfect crunchy and salty snack, so I knew that I had to submit photos of me loving on 3 my Wheat Stix when Ted Murphy asked for help with his AMA presentation .

Of course, BenSpark had to show me up with pictures of his little girl munching on Pringles, but it’s hard to be mad at a blondie in a high chair.

C’elle Stem Cell Technology

C_elle_kit_image

Since Mike is a paramedic, I ask him medical questions all the time, and when I heard about C’elle, I had to ask About the Science behind stem cell technology.

The debate over stem cell research is heated, and I am firmly on the side of harvesting stem sells for further research and the potential discovery of cures for diabetes, heart disease, MS, Alzheimer’s, and other diseases.

C’elle is technology that allows woman to collect stem cells for future use from menstrual blood. Menstrual stem cells are a 100% match for the woman, and may potentially help her first degree relatives, as the cells have the ability to differentiate into other cells types such as heart muscle, cartilage, nerve and bone stem cells which could serve as the cure for many life altering diseases.

For only a few hundred dollars, women have the ability to collect and save menstrual blood and take the future of their health into their own hands. The C’elle Client Testimonial proves that we have nothing to lose, and everything to gain, from this new stem cell technology.

Sneezing Panda

I’ve been informed that I’m way late to the sneezing panda party, but it’s just so cute that everyone should watch it again.

I’ve become mildly obsessed with pandas as of late, and was quite disappointed when there wasn’t any at the zoo last week. I could be wrong, but I think the San Diego Zoo is one of the few zoos in the US that have panda bears. Does your local zoo have panda bears?

A rose by any other name…

ollierosesI never used to be a fan of roses, I thought they were too traditional and prickly, but then Mike sent me a huge multi-colored bundle from 1800-Flowers that were absolutely beautiful, and so fragrant, that I fell in love with the rose from that point on.

I can’t pick a favorite color because my bundle was so pretty and each rose means something different, but there is a rose for every occasion at 1800-Flowers, and they are all beautiful, and you know that they take pride in their roses because they are a proud sponsor of the American Rose Society!

Porn on the Playground

If you live in the quaint town of Bartlett, Tennessee, you might want to think twice about taking your children to Bartlett Grove Park. The local news discovered a video clip on a porn sight of a woman exposing herself at Bartlett Grove Park (don’t get your hopes up, it doesn’t link to the video clip, just the news story) and taking a trip down the slide without her underwear.

I’m curious as to how someone from the station so nonchalantly “discovered” the video clip, and how they brought the topic up at the weekly staff meeting. “I have this friend, who was looking at porn…public, exhibitionist style porn, and he recognized the local park…”

But the best part of the whole article are the quotes from Barbara Taylor. They are an absolute riot…

“She’s definitely a tramp — just nasty,” parent Barbara Taylor said in reaction to the video.

“I think it’s disgusting,” she said. “I think I’m not letting my kids go down that slide anymore.”

Moving Tips

The next time Mike and I move, we’re making it easier on ourselves by hiring ABF U-Pack. Driving that big truck is always the most stressful part of moving for me, so we can follow ABF’s packing tips to pack our belongings for the long haul, load the truck ourselves exactly how we want it, and ABF can drive our belongings to our new home.

I’m very particularly about packing my belongings, whether for a trip or a move, and I have to say that I’m impressed with ABF’s packing tips. They give a list of supplies and detailed instructions for packing furniture, electronics, and fragile items.

My favorite tip is to have sandwich bags handy for nuts, bolts, and hardware and to tape the bags to the underside of the piece they came from!

New Bed!

P11295668Mike and I have been complaining about our mattress for the past six months and decided last week that we were going to buy a new king size mattress as our Christmas present to each other. What better gift than a bed so big you feel like you’re sleeping alone?!

After dreaming about a big comfy bed to sprawl out in, we both woke up this morning and couldn’t take it any more. Between Mike’s sore shoulder, my kinked back, and Oliver sprawled out between us like we’re bunking with him, we’re headed out this weekend to purchase a king size…and then we’re going to sleep for the next month straight.

Photobucket and Target Team Up

Big news from Photobucket and Target. The two have teamed up and now Photobucket users can order prints for pickup within an hour at most Target stores.

Lots of us bloggers use Photobucket to organize our videos and photos, share albums, create slideshows and host images, and now we have the option of quick and easy printing for those extra special photos!

Once again, Target comes through with everything I could ever need. Except maybe cattle supplies.
