I was singing along to by the Paul Revere by the Beastie Boys on the way home from work today, and I realized that I know about 50% of the words and make up the other 50%. I do it all the time with pop, hip hop, and Rap Music Lyrics. It’s much easier to make my own words up than figure out what they are really saying.

But, curiosity got the best of me and I checked out the lyrics at www.rapartists.com and apparently he nobody pulled out their jammies. Instead they:

Pulled out the jammy, aimed it at the sky
Yelled “Stick ‘em up!” and let two fly

Thanks to that lyrics website, I can stop embarassing myself and learn the real lyrics to songs before I belt them out.

FunCraftsRecipeAdIt’s week 31 of Four Foods on Friday, and the topic of barbeque! Quite timely since most people dusted off the BBQ for the first time last weekend for their Memorial Day celebrations.

1. What is your favorite food that is cooked on the barbeque?

Ribs! Though I can’t remember the last time I had ribs.

2. What veggies, if any, do you cook on the barbeque?

Corn, mushrooms, zucchini, and squash.

3. Tell us a little about your barbeque habits. Who grills, how often, what months, etc.

I’ve never owned a barbeque, but I’ve manned the grill at my parent’s house during the summer. I think we’re an early and late summer BBQ family, because it’s no fun to stand outside infront of a hot grill when it’s 100 degrees out.

4. Share a barbeque recipe.

I don’t know a true barbeque recipe, but I know that my mom always ads honey to bottled BBQ sauce and it is delish.

LIB11533710I almost needed moving boxes to get home from NYC, thanks in part to Fishs Eddy, a trendy kitchware store. I ended up coming home with a set of pole girl glasses that are beyond cute, and a little raunchy, but I could have bought so much more.

I’m going to be dangerous once I get a full size kitchen with some cabinet space!

I was on celebrity watch the entire time I was in New York. I thought for sure I’d see Sarah Jessica Parker and little James Wilkie amongst the fake Rolex watches and Gucci purses!

The closest I came was spotting Tracy Smith from the CBS Early Show with her husband and their twins on Park Avenue. She saw me point and say “It’s the girl from Channel One!” and laughed at me.

My weekend trip to New York City is a blur, but luckily I have lots of pictures to help bring it back into focus.

My mom and I landed in New York early Friday morning and hit the ground running. Since we weren’t up to navigating the subway for the very first time with luggage, we had a driver drop us off at my sister’s apartment (who knew 600 square feet could be so spacious?), and we headed out to visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Bryant Park, Crumbs, Carrie’s stoop from Sex in The City, Grand Central Station, and saw Mary Poppins on Broadway (more on that later, it was so good it deserves its own post).

Saturday we got manicures and pedicures, hopped on and off a double decker bus tour all day, visited a Buddhist temple and got our fortune for $1 (excellent outlook for me), ate lunch in Little Italy and bought t-shirts in Chinatown, saw Ground Zero and shopped at Century 21, ate sushi from a conveyor belt and tasted our first Pinkberry.

Sunday we attempted to visit the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty, but the lines were so long because of the holiday weekend that we ended up driving by the Empire State Building on a double decker bus and floating past the Statue of Liberty on the Statton Island Ferry. We also walked through Central Park and had hot dogs and pretzels, had a Frrrozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipity, stopped at Dylan’s Candy Bar, and headed back to Little Italy for dinner and our second Pinkberry of the weekend.

I’m exhausted just recapping the trip! Did I miss anything?
