Four Foods on Friday

1966173331 71141d5f0a I can’t get over how quick time goes by. I feel like I was just answering last week’s Four Foods on Friday questions! That’s okay, because I’m ready for the weekend and Val does a great job every week asking new questions and rounding up our answers.

1. When going out to dinner what items do your order? Appetizers, soup, salad, dinner, dessert.

I used to think that every time I went out to dinner it was a special occasion, which meant appetizers, main course, and desert, but when you go out to dinner more than once a month, it’s no longer a special occasion. I’ve gotten a lot better are resisting appetizers and desert, but I do order an occasional spinach dip or calamari.

2. How predictable are you when eating out? Do you usually order a meal that you’ve had before or do you like to try new things?

I’m all over the map. Sometimes it’s a salad, other times it’s a burger, every now and again I feel up for a special. I had the seafood special in San Francisco this weekend, and mussels, shrimp, lobster, and scallops are truly special together!

3. When eating at a restaurant, what beverage do you like to order with your meal?

I used to always order a Coke, but now I order water the majority of the time. I find that I don’t feel sick to my stomach after I eat if I just drink water.

med-bread-small4. Name a meal that you ate at a restaurant that you liked so much you tried to recreate it, as well as the name of the restaurant and the recipe.

I will never be able to recreate the Mediterranean Bread from Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co. no matter how hard I try. I’m just going to have to wait in line for two hours with cash in hand to enjoy it on special occasions (and this is one of those restaurants where I order appetizers, salad, main course, and desert). Yum.

  1. oh spinach dip! so yummy. have you found a good store brand if you want that fix at home?

  2. That bread looks gorgeous. I agree, many times it’s worth getting back in line instead of trying to cook it up yourself, it can be so hard getting that same exact taste :)

  3. That bread looks tasty.
    Thanks for playing FFOF!

  4. [...] Corrin feels the Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Mediterranean bread will never be beaten so she hasn’t tried. I’m not 100% sure but I think Corrin was trying to tell us her level of predictability depends on her mood. [...]

  5. I want that bread, right now!

  6. I used to order everything when we went out to eat, until I realized how much we were spending and not eating. I do still order appetizers and everything when it’s a true special occasion. :-D

  7. “Out to eat” is relative for us. We rarely eat at sit down places, so those trips are special. We eat fast food places a fair amount - couple times a week - so not special at all.

  8. Mmmm….that bread would be good to dip in the spinach dip! :)

  9. Yay for Spinach Dip!!! :)
