Crane Collapse in Manhattan
My sister called this afternoon to tell everyone not to panic when they heard the news about the crane collapse on Manhattan’s east side. She and her boyfriend moved to NYC in January, and the accident happened on their block, so when the news reports the story, the street intersection is the same as their apartment.
When she called, I could hear sirens and other people talking on cell phones in the background. She said that people were hanging out of the windows of the neighboring apartment buildings looking at the damage, and the news is reporting that there is damage to gas lines in the area. They were headed away from the building in case there was a fire or explosion.
It gave me the goosebumps when she told me what happened. Just thinking about all the people in their apartments on Saturday afternoon and the people in the pub at ground level celebrating St. Patrick’s day.

I get calls and emails when everything happens in NYC….only problem is that I live across the bay in NJ. I had to call all my friends in Atlanta after hearing about the tornadoes.
