Four Foods on Friday

You know it’s going to be a good day when you can kick it off with Four Foods on Friday. You get to blog about food, visit two dozen other blog posts on food, and it’s the end of the work week!
1. What type of M&M is your favorite?
I think they were a special promotion for Pirates of the Caribbean, but the white chocolate M&Ms were to die for. I don’t eat chocolate very often, but when I do, it is M&Ms straight out of the microwave so that the shell is still crunchy and the inside is melted.
2. Peanut butter. Smooth, chunky, creamy. How do you like it?
Smooth! Chunky makes me think there’s something in my PB&J that shouldn’t be.
3. Do you usually drink out of glass, acrylic, Tupperware type or paper cups?
This is when everyone will realize that I truly am crazy, because specific liquids have to be placed in specific types of cups.
- milk = glass cup NO EXCEPTIONS
- juice = glass cup
- fountain pop (fast food) = styrofoam cup
- fountain pop (sit down restaurant) = glass cup
- canned or bottled pop (home) = glass cup, Solo cup
I will drink pop (fountain, canned, or bottled) and juice from a plastic or acrylic cup as long as it is oversized and inspected for cleanliness.
Please note that these are hot hard and fast rules. They may be amended or completely changed at any time for any reason.
4. Share a chicken recipe.
A client of ours makes orange blossom water, which I have never had, so we’ve been trying out recipes and this one was pretty good.
Orange Blossom Chicken with Rice - Serves 4-6
¼ cup olive oil
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
2 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, ½-inch cubes
2 teaspoons kosher salt
½ teaspoon cardamom
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of cloves
2 (14.5-ounce) cans tomatoes, medium dice
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 cup shredded carrots
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
½ teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Orange Blossom Water
Heat olive oil in a large saucepan. Add onions and sauté over medium-high heat, until golden brown. Place chicken pieces in saucepan and cook until brown, about 6 minutes. Add seasonings, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, carrots and parsley. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes. Before serving, add orange blossom water. Serve over rice.

I’m laughing as I’m reading your FFonF because we have the total opposite opinion on peanut butter. It just struck me funny!
I like your preferred drink container list too.
Lynne - I’m glad my neurosis does not scare you away from my blog!
I must have missed those white chocolate m&m’s. Darn. Good thing Lynne and I both liked chunky pb or we could have driven our mom even more crazy. LOL
Don’t worry, Karen. I ate enough of those M&Ms for the two of us!
[...] Corrin shared a recipe for Orange Blossom Chicken with Rice and liked the white chocolate m&m’s. [...]
Wow, that orange blossom water sounds interesting. I’ll have to go and see if I can find it at the stores.
I think that the chicken recipe I posted would be fine without the onions. if you try it, let me know!
I might have to send your recipe along to my family, they love anything orange
I must try the chicken recipe, it has cardamom in it and I LOVE cardamom!
I have to have plastic/acrylic cups be oversized, too!
*high5* What is that? Do we need more room for ice?
I also check them super carefully for cleanliness. Our dishwasher’s complete crap and leaves little food bits on plastic cups.
Ooo…that chicken’s going into Mastercook, too!
That’s my opinion on PB too.
The recipe is really interesting/tasty sounding. I’m going to bookmark it for later attempts.
Chili Queen - orange blossom water is used a lot in Indian recipes, so check the ethnic aisle!
Kelly - I’ll be sure to report back!
Blair - I never realized that cardamom was so GOOD. What else do you use it in?
Megs - twinz!
the most frequent way I use cardamom is in whipped cream. I like cakes and cookies and am finally discovering its savory uses… it is so versatile!
I’ll have to try the m&m’s in the microwave. Sounds yummy!
