This month, the Motion Picture Association of American announced that smoking will now play a role in determining a film’s rating. Smoking used to only play a roll when underage usage was shown, but now glamorized or pervasive smoking will up a film’s rating.

It’s a start, but I’m with some anti-smoking groups who are lobbying for an automatic R rating for any film depicting smoking. Though, that would mean that 101 Dalmations would be rated R.

I think Vespa scooters are the cutest thing ever. I would give anything to have a little sea green Vespa and zip to and from work every day. It would save me gas, parking, time, and I’d tie a scarf around my hair in an attempt to look super cute and live the Vespanomic life!

Vespanomics (Vés pá näm íks) n.

In addition to being super stylish and having fun driving, Americans should be switching to scooters in order to be more economically and ecologically friendly. Vespas get 70 miles per gallon and go 40 – 100 miles per hour, depending on the model.  If we switched 10% of our total mileage to scooters, we could reduce fuel consumption by 58% and carbon dioxide emissions by 80%!

We need to take a hint from our European friends and switch to scooters! My dad works for BP, so if my family is advocating the reduction in fuel consumption, you know it’s an important topic!
